Typical French Site
Small restaurant, bar, take away and shop (Friendly but expensive)
Toilet facilities clean but need updating (Bring your own loo roll!)
Swimming pools are the sites best feature
Dog / Nature walk is good if you have a dog
Large playing field on site is a bonus
Site is sandy / dusty and scattered with fallen leaves from the numerous trees
Plenty of shade but don't expect gravel hard standings or green grass
Site access and roadways are narrow and busy
Great Service, good site.
We have been caravanning in France for 34 years and have never had such friendly and helpful assistance than Les Saules. Having a major problem with our car, which is in the process of re-patriation along with our caravan, Laurent, Thomas and the rest of the staff were absolutely brilliant. The site is ideally located for the many cycle routes, very handy for visiting many chateaus and lovely countryside. The swimming pool, bar area and restaurant are excellent, access to our emplacement was straightforward. We will certainly visit this site again if wanting to further explore this beautiful area.
If you have a problem on your holiday you want to know you can get local support, in the case of Les Saules this is certainly the case with Laurent, his wife and the whole of his staff.
A big thank you, une millie mercies to them all.
Very nice site and a good sightseeing base
Visited the site for 6 nights in the middle of August. As you would expect, the site was very busy, but the CC pitches were towards the far end of the site which remained relatively peaceful. They were also the larger pitches, with plenty of room. Sanitary facilities clean and not stretched even in peak season. Excellent sightseeing base for the Loire chateaux. Would suggest the approach to the site should be via the D956 south of Blois and then back up the D102, rather than through Cheverny on the D765 as the latter route takes you through narrow village roads busy with visitors to Chateau Cheverny. This is further but a lot less hassle. We would be happy to return to the site.
A superb family run site .
We were very pleased with our stay at Les Saules which is well situated in the heart of chateaux country with great well signposted cycleways straight from the camp.
Family run efficiently to a very high standard even in peak period with full occupancy. Good restaurant/snack facilities with covered pool which is great for kids with good sized pitches with easy access.Would definitely revisit if in these parts again
Great Site - Fantastic Staff
We stayed here for just shy of a week. Site owners and staff are fantastic and very friendly.
Site may be a little tight with no mover, however, we emailed ahead and the site placed us on a suitable pitch.
Facilities were adequate although could have been a little cleaner. Part of that may have been due to other campers. Pool was clean and a very good size. We didn't use the restaurant but it was always busy which is obviously a good sign. I would happily stay here again!
A proper french touring site
We have a large outfit and managed to manoeuvre around the site, although some pitches may have been a challenge. We visited during high season at the peak of the french holidays. Beautiful, wooded site with a real campsite feel but with the luxuries of a clean, pleasant toilet block. Pool area busy but great for kids and adults alike. Fantastic location for cycling to local chateau along quiet country lanes. Would definitely return.
Missold on shuttle bus provision
Booked this site mainly on the fact that it advertises a shuttle bus to Blois and Chambord. As motorhome owners we were returning from a week in the south of France and were looking forward to visiting the nearby chateaux. The site looked appealing on arrival and staff were helpful. It was extremely busy (obvious in high season). Manoeuvring the van was tight around the site due to narrow tracks between the pitches. Once set up we explored the site where we noticed a poster advising that the shuttle bus would not be running until 15 August. When we enquired with staff they informed us it was because "they were just too busy". There were also posters advertising car hire as a solution which whilst tempting would have added a further substantial cost to our budgeted holiday.
Good facilities for families, however I would avoid in mid to high season as the site was very crowded and cramped. Toilet and Shower facilities were not as clean as we expected from previous reviews.
The site is very shaded and washing lines were prevalent between the trees, creating a camplike atmosphere.
We had booked for 4 nights but decided this site was not for us and moved on.
Excellent Site
We stayed here for a week in July. The site was busy but the atmosphere was calm. The location is perfect for off road cycling and also for visiting the chateaux of the Loire. The pitches are large and under trees which was perfect for shade because it was very hot during our stay. The facilities are very good and clean. This is a family run site and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. There is a small restaurant.
The swimming pool is very warm and covered which is a real bonus. There is also a smaller un-covered pool and a toddlers pool as well.
AND Les Saules have the best croissants at any campsite that we have visited !

Disappointed
We loved the location and the easy access to the off road/low traffic cycle trails, however the standard of cleanliness in the toilets/ showers was really poor. We were woken up most mornings by screaming children (we are a family of four so certainly don't mind kids) and the pitches themselves although a good size, are very shady due to most of the site being under high trees that are very close together. The staff on site are helpful. We wouldn't return to this site.

Excellent site
We stayed here for a fortnight at the end of July and were very happy with our choice of site. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and we were made to feel very welcome. Pitches are a really good size, and we enjoyed partial sun during the morning and full sun through the afternoon. Facilities were all clean with plenty of toilets, showers and wash cubicles.
Would say this is very much a family site, so not really too peaceful, but would still definitely recommend this site :)
