We stopped of for 4 nights on the way up to Caen but wished we'd been able to stay longer.
Good points:
The site was very attractive with a fishing lake and stream running through it had a really relaxed feel to it, being really well laid out in little areas so that it didn't feel too expansive.
There was a scenic walk along the stream into the nearby town of Brissac and the other way away from the town (although we didn't explore this).
Staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant was well run with excellent food and friendly staff. Pools were clean and attractive to sit by- not too busy either. Pitches were very private with hedging and the washrooms were very clean.
Close to nearby towns.
Bad points:
Not much! But the closest village did not have much in it (bar/restaurants etc.) so book if you are aiming to eat out!
Having stayed in the Loire valley twice before, we were hopeful of a further good experience ... but alas, we arrived for our three night stay later in July only to find we were allocated a pitch amongst the overnight stayers and surrounded by young families - many with babies!
When asked about their pitch allocation policy, this was apparently not done deliberately - yes well my name might as well be Mickey Mouse! We were in the second rank of pitches very close to the childrens' play area; swimming pool complex and reception / main entrance in and out and we had a general footpath next to our pitch .... so very little privacy either then and there were large numbers of equivalent pitches standing empty further back in the site.
The shower & loo facilities were okay and the pool complex also looked very good. The shop; bar and restaurant were staffed by some very hard working staff who were also very courteous but, our overall feeling was of needing some serious peace and quiet - meaning this was not a good experience for us. Consequently, we will probably not return!!!
Stayed here for three nights at the start of a two week break and it was excellent - really could not fault it in any way. Pools nice, staff friendly, facilities good, pitch excellent with loads of space and some sunny and some shady bits. All in all a top place to stay.
Would strongly recommend some mozzie repellent though. One night was really bad and woke up with a dozen or so bites the next day. Wouldn't stop me going back - just take some repellent!
We spent a fabulous week on this site at the end of June. We found the staff extremely helpful, friendly and spoke great English. We participated in an organised wine tasting where we learnt that the site employs local disabled people to assist in the grounds and facilities giving them skills and support. The site own their own vineyard (we also recommend the vineyard tour). They are a not for profit organisation and put profits back into assisting their staff which we felt was great.
Lots to do in the area. Do visit the Chateaux in the area. Brissac is a short stroll along the river and worth a visit. Saumur is also worth a visit and has 100km of tunnels below the city. We visited Maison Louis de Grenelle wine cave which was great value (30 min tour of the caves plus 5 wines to taste for 3 euro each)
We found the site quiet and relaxing with both an outdoor and covered pool. Unfortunately we found the bar closed early 2100 but this could have been because we visited in low season. We ate in the restaurant twice and found the food to be value for money and good quality.
We would also recommend buying their wine.
We would consider going back as there was so much in the area that we didn't get to explore and this was a great relaxing base
What a lovely site, based very close by to the small town of Brissac -Quince. Used this site as a stopover but wished we had longer there and will definitely go back. There is a big focus on the environment and being green at this site and its evident with all their facilities. Great pools, indoor heated and outdoor. Nice little Bar and restaurant , handy little shop. Great shower blocks. Will definitely be back.
We stayed here for 4 nights earlier this month, wish we could have stayed longer. Site has obviously improved since previous reviews. We had a very nice, large, part-shaded full service pitch. Site is very well maintained, 2 spotless washroom blocks, and 2 decent pools, one heated, one not. Manager could not have been more helpful. On her detailed recommendation we had a fabulous day out at Puy du Fou theme park, full of spectacular live action shows. Lots else to see and do in the area, particularly along the Loire. Didn't use the restaurant but the free wine tasting evening was good fun.
Stayed here on our way back to the Caen port this month for two nights. The lady in charge was most helpful. We arrived at just after 1pm. Reception was closed. There was a post box on the reception door with all our pitch details. So that we could get settled as she put it.
Later on we called at reception. She told us when the local, markets where on and how to walk iinto town along the canal. She even booked our dog in at the local vets for us.
Lovely site and pool. The bar was only opening on the 16th June for the season.
The only down side being the gravel paths round the site.
This was a great little 2 day stop over in August 2016 as we travelled back north. Good location.
Nice pool and park next door. Restaurant Ok breakfast poor value ( my children said they had been the smallest and most expensive croissants in last 3 weeks in France).
Brissac is well worth an afternoon visit. Would use again if in area as stopover but 2-3 days would be max. Only negative point was serviced pitch we had was very small compared to others so could not get motorhome in correctly
Well laid out site with good sized pitches and shade - essential in very hot summer. Facilities very clean and able to cope with high season numbers. Access can be a bit tight to some pitches but excellent access to the site from D748. Lovely swimming pool, busy but choosing our time gave us a good swim. Wi-fi cost reasonable and effective range. Helpful reception and lovely baguettes and croissants for breakfast. Brissac chateau and its parkland is lovely.
Angers and Saumur are both close by and worth visiting as are Fontevraud Abbey and the troglodyte village of Rochemenier. We didn't use it but families will appreciate the adjacent leisure park. We can definitely recommend it, especially out of season.
We only stayed 1 night en route to The Vendee.
Acceptable, not great but nothing special.
Probably best for families with a few children who enjoy playing in the outdoor pool.
The Bar was a bit limited, and we had a problem with Cloudy beer - although they dealt with this very well ..... Tried several versions and no charges made.
Typical Chateaux style adapted campsite.
Not much to see locally without a car,.
We wouldn't particularly revisit, but there is nothing actually wrong .
