Very Useful Stop Off

We used this site for our first and last nights because it’s only 42 miles from Dieppe. We were somewhat reticent about the welcome we might receive following the very critical reviews of the Wardens. We had absolutely no complaints whatsoever and found both Monsieur & Madame to be very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Not everyone can be the life & soul of the party, and M. is certainly rather shy & reserved. However, he was never rude and always efficient. The site itself is quite small, but the pitches of a reasonable size. We had a larger pitch with electricity, water and grey waste disposal. It was more than adequate. There is no restaurant, but the site is within walking distance of the village where there are places to eat. If you have a car Duclair is about 10 minutes drive and there are plenty of restaurants. A good drive/cycle ride is to Duclair, across the river on the free car ferry - it does take motorhomes - and then right to the spectacular Brotonne bridge - no toll - and back to the site. We will certainly return, especially if DFDS continue to offer 20% discount on the Newhaven/Dieppe route for over 60s!

Lovely woodland site

Stayed at camping de la forget  for 1 week. The site is very peaceful and in an excellent location for the coast and Rouen which has excellent train connection for Paris. The only thing that slightly spoilt our stay was the extremely poor caravan club directions to the site which added at least an hour to our journey and were very vague when getting close to the site. We understand that it us important to avoid any seine river ferry crossings as they do not allow caravans but our journey back to Calais following the sat nav was much quicker, and straight forward and avoided any ferries.

Camping de la Foret

Excellent location for Dieppe ferry home. Showers, water temp cool and cannot be altered, also they close at 22.00 ! swimming pools, no, the round pool outside is 18" deep, the covered pool is very small 6 people were in it and it was crowded, so dont bank on "swimming" in the swimimg pools. Pitches large and spacious once in. Motor mover came in useful. Would use again but still only as a night stop over.

Camping De La Foret

Good clean campsite and very child friendly, during our stay all the children rode the bikes around and around the campsite and looed to be having great fun. Pitch we had was fully serviced so real handy not to keep having to fill the water barrel. WIFI is a bit patchy and really slows down in the evening when more people start to use it. Local Abbey ruins are good for an afternoon visit and the village has several good restaurants. Only discovered the local lake on the last day, this is great if you have children as has a beach, swimming and water sports on the lake, bouncy castles and lots of other activities. You need to go down through the village and keep going about 2Km and it's on the right. A trip on one of the local free ferries across the Seine is fun as they only hold about 6 cars and take under 2 min cross, however be aware that you can only take your car on - no caravans. If we return to this area we will definitely visit this site again.

Camping de La Foret

Only used this site as a stop over but found it clean and tidy with friendly staff. My wife wasn't too keen on the 'Eco' showers as they have to be constantly pressed to maintain the flow of water. Ideal site for my purpose of a one night stop but probably wouldn't book it for a longer stay which is only down to my personal preferences and no fault of the site itself.

Camping De La Foret

Lovely small site with very friendly staff . Very quite very clean but didn't like that the toilet and showers closed completely at 10pm .They also turned off the WiFi which upset my daughter ! Used the site for an overnight site which for this it was perfect.

Camping La Foret

Well kept site with friendly, helpful staff. Very quiet and peaceful. We were surprised how much there was to do in the area as we have never stopped here previously. It is also a good stop over for travelling further south.

Ideal short stopover

We stayed here as the last site before returning to England after a 1700 mile trip down to Biarittz and back. Nice quiet site, facilities good and clean, though the showers were quite weak and the main block closed at 10.00 p.m. Normal 3 pin Euro plug for hook up. The motorhome service point was useful as we wanted to drop all our water before the journey back to the U.K., no point in carrying excess weight. The village is quite small and very quiet, there were a couple of restaurants open and a boulangerie, though the site will take an order for morning bread and croissants. The ruined Benedictine Abbey is well worth a visit and the main feature of the village. I would take issue with some criticism by other members. We stayed at over 10 sites on our trip and everywhere we went found 'camping cars' as the French like to call motorhomes were welcome far more than in the U.K. Yes there are differences in culture and they speak French - why do we expect them to speak English? Take your toilet paper with you, guys and gals share the same facilities. Toilet seats are rare but the 'hole in the ground' seems to have mainly disappeared. Push button showers and taps are the norm and basins don't have a plug. Continental motorhomes are generally small to medium size and pitches reflect this - vive la difference!

Second visit

Having spent a couple of nights here last year we decided to return for a week. The owners were very friendly and helpful, happy to let us try out our french but also able to speak english. The pitches are mostly in full or part shade, the site is in a forest! We were very grateful for this as the weather was exceptionally hot. We had a full service pitch which was plenty big enough, some of them were a bit smaller. The facilities blocks were always clean, one is older. There is a small pool and also a small play area and boules court. The village is nice and has cafes,a small shop and the abbey. Lots of places for day trips, Rouen, Honfleur and Deauville also Normandy landing areas. Ideal site for a stopover or a longer stay in a quiet location. We would return.

Excellent site to visit Rouen

I wondered if I had stayed on the same site reading the last post. But we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at La Foret. All pitches are in large grass bays and this is after one of the wettest spring's in France's history.Ours had a water point and drainage but did not look at other pitches.Electric was on next pitch through hedge.Excellent restaurant at the restaurant near the ferry. It is a long walk or bike ride. This site is handy for getting out and about Rouen is very pretty and spent a whole day their.Jumieges is nearby for a drink and stroll in evening.Downsides are there is only one way in by car towing, don't try to use the ferries. If you want to get a bus into Rouen check with site owners only we waited at wrong bus stop initially as buses only come down this far on a Sunday.
