Excellent place to spend the winter
By the time we left on the 1st April we had been on the Alannia Costa Blanca site for 78 nights having arrived for the rally a day early. This is our third time on the site and only the second with CAMC hosting the event. Although it is a large site it is very well run and the staff are always willing to help and do so with a smile. Within the site there is a bar/bistro, restaurant for functions, small supermarket, spa, gym indoor pool, 2 outdoor pools, tennis courts and much more.
The site can be considered to be remote with the nearest town, Catral being about 3 km away it is a good walk but a gentle cycle ride away. The town has supermarkets, restaurants, China shop, doctors, dentist, pharmacies and vets. This year there has been no electricity (which is metered) included in the site fee which is understandable in the current energy crisis so you basically pay for what you use. Spanish LPG cylinders (Repsol) are available on site. A cylinder can be hired for your stay as long as you have a current service report. The pitches are of a good size with low hedges and a fine gravel finish which is easily carried into the van. A ground sheet is advisable and can be bought on site. A freestanding clothes drier will also be needed as drying lines tied to trees is not allowed.
Over the years we have made many, many friends who we will hopefully meet up with again next year, as well as meeting new friends. We have found this year’s rally to be as if a community was coming back together after an enforced separation. The weekly schedule soon filled up with events organised by the hosts with ralliers filling in slots with bike rides, walks, crafts and musical jamming sessions, etc. It is a case of the more you put n the more you will get out.
The rally hosts work incredibly hard to make this event the success it is and both Sue and I looked forward to returning next year.
The only negative comment I would make is about dogs barking. It an the age-old issue to which there does not seem to be an easy solution other than owners taking more responsibility for their pets and respecting other people’s right peace and quiet.
