This was our first rally and we were delighted with the vast majority of it, there’s always some things you’d like to change and for me, the only thing missing with this location was the ease to walk to and from the sea-front , other than that the site was 5 star. Quiet , clean and the staff at every location throughout the site was very good. the food at the pub / restaurant, though not excellent , was very good for pub grub, staff were very very busy and I’d say at times needed more support ( during busy times ) but could not fault anyone. The Spa Is excellent, big, clean and staff were very helpful. All on all a top site.
The rally itself was very good, firstly all the team are volunteers, but willing voulunteers who bring a smile and an enthusiasm to the whole rally. We spent 6 weeks on site and I’d say there was a bit of “repetition “ for some of the weekly activities, there was a feeling that a few things were “dated” and that some of the more popular events required a bit more of a tweak.
I would have personally liked to see more day trips, there are so many areas around and a group tour to the vineyards, beaches , best paella places etc could and would be welcomed , I’d also say a suggestion box would be ideal , rather than a “vote of hands” at a weekly meeting ( not everyone has the confidence for that).
We are living in a time where age dynamics are changing , people are more “young at heart” and that needs to be something that’s given thought, hence the suggestion boxes at the rally , let’s not forget some members are there for the full length of time.
I’d say there was a wee bit of complacency for some old rules and habits, but nothing that can’t be resolved with an open mind and open feedback to the club.
The team in place during the rally were great, I believe it was new for 4 of the team, and to be honest, you wouldn’t have known it, the events were run well and everything went to time and fun was had by everyone, if the rally continues to offer these options, with new and innovative change and rally teams willing to engage and support that change, then these rally’s will become popular with everyone from their late 40s to 100s….
If you are contemplating a rally, especially Alannia , then go for it , you won’t regret it and you’ll have a superb time , as we did.
