One of the best coastal Club sites.
This is a deceptively large caravan site because the separate zones are like secluded loops off a main access road within the site. From our pitch (85) we could only see 8 or 9 caravans/units even though the site was absolutely full, being the last week of Scottish school holidays! There was, however, very obvious presence of many children on bikes and scooters playing hide and seek around the site via the roads and paths, and too many racing much too fast on site roads (5mph???)
But this site has the major advantage of its location - close proximity to the beautiful extended beach just 5 minutes from the caravan door, superb woodland walks with a children's play area, an easy walk to Dirleton village with at least two good eating places, and North Berwick 2 to 3 miles away for supermarkets, shopping and of course the best Fish and Chips Shop for miles! But at weekends N-B is very very busy!
Being on the east coast the site is usually always fresh and breezy and can be very windy quite often so peg your awning down well! Although there are lots of trees and shrubbery around the site, giving good separation and privacy, you would be very unlucky not to get line-of-site for your satellite dish (but terrestrial broadcast TV is quite well received here). Our dogs really enjoyed the variety of walks available daily and enjoyed the generous space for each pitch on site too. They regretted not being allowed to chase the thousands of rabbits cheekily munching grass all day around the site!
Everyone seemed to be having a good time: the old and the young, the visitors and the wardens, and the weather was actually fantastic that week which may have had something to do with it. The whole site was spotlessly clean and tidy and the facilities block was well kept - what more could one want? Maybe a few more days here?
