Not quite right

The whole idea of our 5 day stay between Xmas and the New Year was to visit London take in a show or two and eat a few nice meals out. On arrival at the site we enquired as to how best to get into London and to my surprise the warden who we nicknamed’Manuel’(I know nuthinggg ) just said that he had been on site only 1 week and didn’t have clue about anything. Now call me fussy but apart from cleaning the toilets once a day isn’t a grasp of general local knowledge pretty much a prerequisite for this wardens job. I’m of course not expecting an in-depth encyclopedic knowledge of Denham but not knowing the basic transport info to/ from site ....really. As for the site itself can I make a suggestion that the warden checks the calendar once in a while and when it’s approaching Christmas maybe think about investing in a string of twinkling fairy lights at reception to make it feel a slightly festive, saying that perhaps ‘ Manuel’ hasn’t managed to find the shops yet. Apart from the above a great site to use if your visiting London ..walk to the station 20mins train ride into the city 30 mins. Sent from my iPad

Seems you found your way around. 👍🏻

I feel a bit sorry for the warden if he'd only been there a week. He seemingly wasn’t a local yet was expected to know about the area. Have you got time to edit your post to take out the unfortunate name you gave him?

I can see that it seems by your review that you have none or little use of sites to think that the staff have little to do on sites except to pander to the lack of common sense of members, especially as the staff you so quick to complain about had only been there for a week?did the information in the "information room" not give you all you needed, unless it has altered a lot .there was more than adequate in there we we visited in 2017

I would have thought that if you are able to find your backside with one hand you might have mustered sufficient intellect to solve your own transportation queries without resorting to slagging off a newly arrived warden.

Seems an odd thing to book and arrive at a site without knowing anything about the area one's self, or what one might do while there. I'd expect that is how these package tour things might work - but not independent caravanning.

I think Manuel might well be part of the Club's "Flying Squad" who go the length and breadth of the country with no notice at all to stand in for wardens who are suddenly ill, injured, bereaved or otherwise unable to attend to the planned duties. They certainly deserve even greater praise then usual.

Or the Club could just shut the site and cancell all the bookings.

I rarely look at what is in an area until I arrrive

What a very rude and upsetting (for the Warden) review. We have been to the site several times and there is a lot of information in the information room about places to visit and even one folder full of directions. Public transport timetables and details are on display in the shower block AND on the noticeboard outside Reception. This is in fact par for the course on most Caravan and Motorhome Club sites. However there is no need to make a review personal - perhaps a conversation with the Warden may have elicited the reason why he had not been there for long or that he was in the process of learning all the local information in between all his other jobs - which you only have to look around are many more than cleaning the shower block.
