Good for families

Good beach-side site

The selling point for White House Beach is probably it's proximity to the beach, in fact part of the site is actually right next to it, the main part, which is more sheltered and has more trees and shrubs, is across a road. The beach is predominantly shingle but there are a few sandy areas where kids can use their buckets and spades. Parts of the beach have dog restrictions but there are large areas where dogs are permitted. There is plenty of space to spread out. There are none of the seaside resort "amenities"; if you want those then go to Lowestoft South Beach or Great Yarmouth. The shower block on the main site is quite old in its design and could do with a refurbishment, the shower cubicles are among the smallest we have encountered on CMC sites, nevertheless they are kept clean and tidy by the wardens and there is plenty of hot water. Behind the "far end" of the site - pitches 35 - 39 there is a sewage pumping station and further along a sewage works so occasionally, and especially after heavy rain, there is a slight "odour" on that part of the site. If wifi is an essential requirement for you then avoid that "far end" part of the site as the signal is so weak it makes wifi unusable, in other areas the wifi signal is OK. There are good coastal walks in both directions from the site and you can walk as far as Lowestoft should you wish. There is a half hourly bus service between Lowestoft and Kessingland although the bus stop is about half a mile from the site. There is a good Morrisons supermarket four miles from the site on the way towards Lowestoft which is also on the bus route. Others have commented on the local eating establishments. This area of Suffolk has a number of interesting place to visit which include Southwold, Aldeburgh, Walberswick, RSPB reserves at Minsmere / Dunwich Heath, Oulton Broad and Lowestoft and further up the coast Great Yarmouth. If you want a quiet, beach side location then White House Beach could be for you.
