Peaceful only the sound of bird song and the wave breaking on the beach. The Site was immaculate and wardens very friendly and helpful.
The Sailors Home good food and well worth a visit.
Peace and Cuckoos
We stayed 15 - 17th April then returned and stayed 6 - 8th May. Our April stay was restful, weather not brilliant but we dodged showers and enjoyed a meal in Sailors Home pub next to site where we met other CC members staying on site. Our next stay 6 - 8th May, weather was brilliant, we set up to sound of a Cuckoo and also a Song thrush singing and had a cup of tea and watched a robin feeding his family nearby - Most peaceful. Site was immaculate as usual and wardens cheerful. We had a grass site and all was perfect. Site is looking after nature and helping it thrive which is good as you don't hear many cuckoos on other sites. We will be back in June.

Bank Holiday Family Break
This is the 3rd CC site we've stayed at and all in all was good, however not really geared up for families, owing to facilities and general location.
Location is fine for getting around, however not that much on the doorstep e.g. few miles to nearest supermarket. Access to the beach is good and great for people with dogs.
As others have stated the site shop is rather limited, so make sure you are well stocked for the first night. We'd definitely recommend trying the restaurant on the corner just outside of the site, fantastic food and service!
On the plus side, visually it's a nice site with modern facilities. Good size pitches and well laid out.
One final pointer, the signage is rather poor getting to the site. It looks like you've run out of road once you hit the beach, however the road loops round and the site is located on the right hand side after the restaurant on the corner.

Lovely site - no idea what the bad press is about
Just returned from our first stay at this site and cannot understand what the negative comments are about. We were on the beach front with stunning views.
The toilet block was warm and spotless. Okay it wasn't brand new this year but there was nothing wrong with it (except one blockage in the gents which the wardens sorted out immediately).
The only negative was a yappy dog that the owner didn't care who it annoyed - but that's no reflection on the site at all.
Will be visiting again that's for sure
Average caravan club site
Stayed for 2 nights. I would say this is quite an average site compared to other CC sites. The shop was not very well stocked. The ladies toilets were quite smelly and always seemed to be left in not a very clean condition! Maybe people can't flush and clean the loo after they use it!! The park was very basic not really worth being there. An ok site if you use it as a base to visit Southwold or Africa Alive.

1st time here.
Our first visit and don't think it will be our last. Got a pitch overlooking the beach and sea-what a joy to open the blinds to that view! Yes the toilet block on the beachfront side is in need of some updating, but it was always spotless, and warm too. Went to Sutton Hoo-well worth the visit, what a fascinating place. Also visited the Suffolk Punch heavy horse centre after very kind warden printed off the details for us. Another very interesting place and good for children too. Local chippie serves fresh cooked tasty food. Definitely a site to visit if you have a dog-we don't, but still enjoyed watching other people's dogs racing about on the beach! Oh and don't forget Southwold Pier-what a crazy, eccentric typically British seaside pier! Didn't have time to read all the plaques, but what a lovely way to recall happy times, special events and loved ones.
peacefull gem in suffolk
I have to say I cannot understand some of the negatives I have read regarding this site. We are visiting again this B/H 29/04/16 , and are looking forward to our stay. We have been several times last summer and have always found the site clean well kept and the wardens friendly. As regards the local pub we had a sunday lunch there on one of our stays and could not fault it the choice of meats and veg, and all well cooked.( remember its a seaside local expect a little noise). If you park on the main park you will find it peacefull. This to my wife & I and the dogs is wonderfull ,well done caravan club
our 4 time
we like this site as its great for walking the coast & the dog, good facilities, friendly wardens, it was a shame it was wet as some pitches were closed & the grass areas were very soggy, we felt sorry fot the wardens who were trying to keep the site look nice but some Vanners & Motors homes were cutting the corners & making a mess of the grass, & some did not take any notice of the one way system? but we enjoyed our stay & will be back again, can not comment on children as we went after the schools started back. thanks
Nice and peaceful
Very helpful warden, 2nd time in our motorhome and we had a problem with our electric hook up cable sparking etc, warden came with screwdrivers and changed the plug for us! Nice clean showers and toilets, great for dog walks, would recommend
