We recently stayed here for 3 nights. The site is very quiet and clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly, when we checked in we were told that the wardens had only just taken over the site. Due to Covid there were only 2 toilet cubicles available to use in each block which was fine but very annoying when people either forgot to put their band back on the hook when coming out or didn't even bother using the band system at all. The pitches were of a good size and lovely views, we managed to get one alongside the 'babbling' brook which was lovely. There is a dog walking area that is reached via quite a steep hill. We didn't have our dog with us this time so decided to take a walk in the forest. We were told it was signed when we got off site but there were no visible signs to tell you which way to go so we turned right, we ended up walking for about 45 minutes firstly on fields and the on a gravel roadway and came to a dead end with no way out but to turn back which was fine but would have preferred a 'proper' sign posted walk. There were serviced pitches on site which we would normally use but glad we didn't on this trip as there was a frost one morning and the pipes all froze up! Although this was a nice clean friendly site we were stuck without a mode of transport (other than the motorhome which had an awning attached so unable to move easily). The nearest pub was a mile away but closed and the fish n chip van that usually visits had gone out of business during Covid so if we fancied a change from cooking there wasn't one. We did try to get a taxi to take us into Penrith to find a pub or somewhere to eat but were told that there weren't many taxis operating after 6pm as there was nowhere to go. All in all, a lovely clean & friendly site but a little too 'out of the way' for us as we like to be able to walk to a pub/cafe/shops and for this reason I don't think we will be visiting again unless we have a tow car.
