Stayed at this site with fiancée and dog for 4 days last week, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay from start to finish. On arrival we were greeted warmly by friendly staff, in what appeared to be a newly renovated and modern reception. The staff were very happy to share abundant local knowledge with us, a huge help. Further to this, the reception was very well stocked with all the essentials we could need during our stay. The site itself is very peaceful, with the most incredible views of the hills. Sitting with a cuppa in the morning looking out over the view from our pitch made the trip worthwhile in itself. We ate at the on site restaurant twice during our visit. A definite high point! Great locally sourced, well priced and well sized meals, and a fantastic selection of beers, even a few local brewery ales to try. The facilities in site cannot be faulted. The toilet blocks were spotless, well decorated, and the addition of local radio in the blocks made for a few shower singalongs! I noticed as well that the facilities have won numerous awards, including the ever coveted loo of year, not just once but several times. I can’t reccommned this site enough, we came home refreshed after a peaceful trip, and with the hills right there it’s fair to say our dog needs a holiday from his holiday!
JUST GREAT
Been here before but really impressed with all the changes. Shiny new reception and really friendly welcome. The reception team could not have been nicer and clearly enjoy their job.
Pitches are usual CMC hardstanding with plenty of space between. You can choose your own pitch and although busy there was still plenty of choice. We secured a cracker with fantastic views to the hills. Not sure what the last reviewer was on about. Yes, there is a generator at the bottom toilets but there is also a sign saying it's temporary. Apparently, they are have been upgrading cables to give 16amps to all pitches - good stuff. Wasn't that noisy anyway. No smells to report either, just fresh country air. Immaculate grounds with wardens seemingly always busy around the site. Toilets are exceptional - check the awards on the walls.
Visited Falkirk Wheel, Kelpies and Helix Park - all close by and well worth the visit. Great for Stirling too - maybe next time.
Restaurant really good. Great to be able to walk there and back and enjoy a wee glass or two, or three, or four.....

Not good.
We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome in a well appointed reception. The views are good and the pitches are quite large. The main problem was the noise from the generator at the toilet block that ran constantly. It could be heard clearly from our pitch and sounded like a car engine running permanently. That coupled with the terrible smell of drains coming from the same toilet block ensured that we will never be returning to this site. The washing up facilities at the same block couldn't be tolerated due to the smell.
The one shower taken (we were booked in for 3 nights but left after 1) was not good. The drains were clearly blocked and the shower quickly filled to ankle depth. All of the sinks suffered with the same problem taking a while to clear.
The dog walk was in the field used for camping. We stayed away from the tents in the upper part of the field but had to go closer to them to use the dog bin which wasn't ideal. This is just a toilet area for the dogs and not a walk, unlike on other sites.
Had the weather been better we would have asked to move pitches to avoid the noise and smell as there was another toilet block further away which appeared to be better. Although the thought of having to pack up and move when the site was not the most peaceful was not appealing when we could move to a far superior site used previously.
If you are looking for peace and quiet I wouldn't recommend this site. If I could have ranked it zero for peace and quiet I would have. Another reviewer mentioned the lodges being installed. Work is ongoing on this site and it does appear that the owners are leaning more towards lodge sales and holidays.
STUNNING SITE
Easily one of the best sites we've ever stayed on. Although quite large it was very peaceful and the pitches were huge and well spaced out with fantastic views to the Ochil Hills. All recently upgraded to 16amp too. Toilets are simply amazing and spotlessly clean. Very friendly and helpful staff and the restaurant at the site entrance was so good we went twice!

VERY VERY NICE.
Just back from this very nice clean site . Had a lovely time , staff are just so nice send big thank you to all the staff . will go back soon.
Not impressed
We used the site for 2 nights in June, we were on the lower part of the site which had lovely views & good sized hard standing pitches, but the shower facilities were not the best in block B there was only 1 hook to hang clothes on, only the disabled shower & 1 other had a stool to put clothes one shower had no shower caddy to put shower gels & shampoo in. It was very hot weather at the time we were there so wanted a cool shower there was no way to regulate the temperature it was far too hot plus you kept having to push the button to keep the water flowing, my husband tells me the gents were of the same standards. There was a TV & a radio in the shower block which to us was a waste when the money could be better spent on fitting out the shower cubicles with better accessories.
The site seems to be working more towards the wooden cabins so caravans are becoming less catered for.
We were due to spend 15 nights there over Christmas & New Year but we have just emailed the site to cancel, another worry comes it to that decision as the standard pitches are only 10amp EH, we could see that it would be an issue over winter when people will be having heating on & some even heating their awnings, so there could be a voltage drop which could impact on our fridge freezer not working, when you are paying that sort of money for EH why should we get the prospect of having a voltage drop or no electric at all
VERY VERY NICE.
Good tidy site ,very nice staff with a very clean toilet block . will go back soon . had a lovely time
A nice laid out site with stunning views
My wife and I travelled to this campsite for 3 nights at the end of January. The reception was friendly and welcoming. The Reception is currently in a Portacabin and a new reception block is being built apparently due to a fire in the old one. We checked in and were invited to select any pitch. The site is very large and we selected a pitch in the lower field with stunning views of the Ochil Hills. The pitches in general were very large, hardstanding and despite the lower field being on a slope all the pitches were level. There were 2 toilet blocks but the one in the lower field was closed for the season. The main toilet block was very well appointed with probably the best showers I have seen. The external dish wash areas in both blocks were closed for the winter leaving only the one laundry sink for dishwashing which was inadequate a site open all year should have a better all weather dishwashing facility. There was plenty service areas and good gravel roads around the site. We have a dog so nearby there is the Devonside way path a disused railway, perfect and safe for walking, also Gartmorn Dam Country park which is well worth a visit. Also for more adventurous walks the Ochil Hills.A short walk along the Devonside Way takes you to Sterling Mills Outlet Village where there are numerous shops a large Costa and cafe bakery. A good well run site with stunning scenery, we will return.
Great winter break.
We have stayed at the Woods several times as it is open all year round and gives easy access to Stirling and Falkirk.
Although the weather was freezing there was a warm welcome from the staff who we have always found friendly and helpful and this time was
no exception.
The facilities are excellent, only one toilet and shower block open in the winter but beautifully appointed and maintained, heated of course with plenty of hot water and easily copes with the number on site at this time of year.
The pitches are big and well kept as is the whole site.
A positive from the freezing weather allowed the usually impressive views towards the hills to become truly spectacular at sunrise and sunset.
Staff are working out of temporary accomodation while a new reception is being built to replace the one destroyed in the fire earlier this year and it is commendable that the site has continued to operate smoothly after what must have been a very disruptive event.
Look forward to returning..
PEACEFUL & RELAXING
Just back from a two week stay on this excellent site. Quite and peaceful with really large pitches all with fantastic views. Friendly staff couldn't be more helpful - more than you can say for some sites we've been on! Really good bar/restaurant at site entrance too. This site probably has the best toilet facilities we have ever came across and are spotlessly clean too. Hope to be back again later this year when other sites are all closed.
