Tucked away in the woods

Just returned from 6 nights on the site where I was greeted with a friendly welcome from the wardens before settling on one of the large, hardstanding pitches. This site is fabulous for dog owners who can walk off site in any direction through the woods, as well as having the option of a clean, secure onsite dog walk where dogs can have a run and play. There are ample poo bins provided and these were well used and emptied regularly by the wardens, keeping both the site and the woods clean. Despite being school holiday time, the site remained quiet with a few children on the play area but, on the whole, I would say this site is more suited to walkers and couples or families seeking a quiet relaxed break. There is a little road noise when the wind is in the wrong direction, but otherwise the site is very peaceful. My only gripe is more to do with other site users really, as there seemed to be a lot of people smoking on site and leaving cigarette ends on the grass around my own and other people's pitches. Perhaps the club could have some signs erected on sites, reminding smokers that they are responsible for their own mess; the wardens and other holiday makers should not have to clean up after them. I would definitely recommend this site and will likely return to take advantage of the great walks around the Royal Estate.
