The Sound Of Silence
This site is just so peaceful, an ideal place to escape from the humdrum world. We arrived at the beginning of July for a two week stay that was extended to three and had a lovely pitch in the Lynnwood part of the site.
Wardens Jon and Sandra gave us a warm welcome and although only our second visit it was like meeting up with old friends.
This is a large site but is split into several areas sharing two toilet/shower blocks which coped well when the site was busy and were always clean and well maintained.
The pitches are large and well spaced with a myriad of wonderful animal sounds coming from the woods, very relaxing.
One night we heard a strange eerie shrieking echoing through the woods. Other people heard it too and some said it made their dogs uneasy.
No one knew what it was but I'd put my money on a pterodactyl roosting in the treetops. Best wear a stout hat when walking in the woods - just in case. Make that a very stout hat!
There are many places to visit in the area with Brancaster having a massive beach (our favourite) and Holkham Hall having large grounds to explore for a modest £3 parking fee. We saw deer roaming and two red kites soaring above the lake there. Kings Lynn, Cromer, Holt and Sheringham are all a short drive or easy bus ride from the stop outside the site. We tried the Silk Road Chinese at Heacham which does a lovely all you can eat buffet on a Sunday so go and fill your boots - metaphorically that is! As well as leaflets from the information room don't forget that the wardens have good knowledge of the area and are very helpful with places to visit and best parking places in the busy towns. There are six wardens here and I must compliment them on the fun way that they interact with their visitors. They make staying at Sandringham a really relaxing experience. Thanks guys and girls.
This is a site that I can strongly recommend and will be visiting again, we have already booked for Christmas. Great site, great location and great wardens so forget decorating, blocked drains or whatever at home. Stay here and chill out then go home feeling totally relaxed with a big smile on your face. We did.
