Stormy Weather

We have just completed another stay at the Sandringham site, a great place to chill out and on this visit we certainly did! The week started off with typical cold and bright November weather and we spent a few days visiting some of the picturesque Norfolk towns but a big change was about to occur. Towards the end of week the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for forthcoming storm Arwen which had us scrambling to take the awning down before it went flying across the Wash with us hanging underneath, Mary Poppins style. Although violent the storm was somewhat subdued in our area however we decided to extend our visit to avoid towing home in the gusty wind. After the storm had passed our new departure day dawned sub-zero with the car covered in a thick layer of frost and icicles hanging from anything that was cold enough for icicles to hang from! Another visit to reception and warden Sue amended our booking again so we could stay a little longer. So, instead of traveling home we spent another day exploring the estate woods and despite the cold it was invigorating to walk along the tracks on a sharp frosty day spotting the varied wildlife. We finally returned home on a typical grey November day which was calm and uneventful. Our thanks to wardens Steve, Mark, Les and Sue for keeping the site so nice and always having a cheery word when we passed them.
