the site is in a good location

with having a motorhome we used the bus and had a day ticket £6:25- we went to Gloucester and Cheltenham that both are well going to also Tewksbury is worth going into if you like different types of food and worth looking into information book on site. The only down side to the site is the toilet blocks they need up grading all though they are cleaned well but out dated . The site in general is a good location for exploring the area ,lots of pubs and walks. Well worth going to Hereford and some of the little villages. One village worth going to is Kilpeck they is a good pub and excellent food to try also a local drink to try butty batch

Location location location!

Fab location in town centre yet quiet.  Pitches are rather close together with few hedges and not conducive to privacy, and grounds gets soggy after rain, but nonetheless a pretty site.  Showers etc are dated, as others have said, but spotlessly clean which is what really matters.  But come on Caravan Club - £2.50 a day for wifi, and limited to one gadget!!!  This is 2015, not the dark ages.  Don't ever pay it, folks, wifi is free in all of Tewkesbury's lovely pubs, and it's overdue for Caravan Club to join the 21st century.

Good location

Very convenient for an overnight stop when travelling along the M5. Very close to the town centre, so you walk in to use restaurants and pubs and have a drink with your food.  Showers etc clean and well maintained, but perhaps a bit dated and not enough showers for busy periods. No hardstanding pitches, which could be a problem when the ground is wet.

Looking forward to returning

We have had a lovely ten days in Tewkesbury, a nice grass pitch with toilets and showers kept clean and tidy. The site is in easy walking distance to the Abbey and Tewkesbury itself for the shops etc. The wardens on the site seemed the perfect couple who were more than happy to help. We are looking forward to our return visit in September and to catching up the friendly wardens again. from the boiler suit girl!

VERY DISAPPOINTING

Where do I begin?  After reading the last review, I am wondering if they stayed at the same site or whether we just had a bad weekend!  This all grassed site is maintained very well and kept as clean as possible by the hard working wardens.  I really do think the problem is that there are too many pitches.  At every turn there seemed to be caravans and motorhomes crammed in everywhere, on grass verges and every piece of spare grass.  The site was pretty full over the weekend and the toilet blocks just couldn't cope.  I attempted to go for a shower this morning and was so disgusted by the state of the floor, toilets and showers that I didn't bother.  There are three showers in two small blocks and well over a hundred pitches!  The floors were covered in grass, mud and swimming in dirty water.  It was pretty disgusting.  How the wardens clean up after this, goodness only knows.  We decided to move pitch half way through our stay as three tenting families arrived, with dogs and children and were allowed to pitch pretty close to the back of our outfit.  I've absolutely no objection to campers, but feel there should be a separate area for tents and not interspersed between caravans and motorhomes, purely from a noise aspect - everything can be heard through canvas!  Tewskbury is a lovely historic town and within easy walking distance, but we didn't feel happy walking around later at night, particularly as even the Wetherspoons restaurant had two bouncers positioned outside!  A lot has changed since we first visited quite a few years ago and we were really disappointed with the site, particularly as we had just driven up from staying at Trewethett Farm, where there are huge spaces between each caravan.  I think the CC need to either update this site or have a rethink about the volume of outfits.  We definitely won't go again.

Great stay.

Had a really nice time. Lovely well drained grass pitches, well maintained Very clean site. Great wardens very friendly always there if you needed anything, but discreet when tending to the site. Will definitely return. Please ignore other comments about wardens what a load of rubbish sounds like someone didn't like to told when stupidly going the wrong way in a one way system! Rules are there to keep everyone safe.

Great location, very busy

The two of us and our two dogs spent 2 nights at Tewkesbury on our first ever camping trip. We were lucky to find a nice level pitch and enjoyed our stay. We found the wardens to be perfectly friendly. The toilets/showers were not able to compete with those on offer at Malvern Hills but seemed clean and functional. The site itself is in a wonderful location in terms of its proximity to the abbey and historic town. It is also close to the motorway network which seems to make it a very popular stop-off point for overnight breaks. The site seemed very busy and didn't offer the same tranquility as Malvern Hills but this is understandable. Lovely large park on the doorstep for dog exercising too!

Report

Had a beautiful few days at this well kept, friendly site,, definitely worth a visit,, easy walk into Tewskesbury,, the only drawback being it seems a growing number of dog owners seem to think it's ok for their beloved pet to urinate on people's pitches as they walk by, it seems worse on this site as it is a grass only site,,however, a well aimed boot solves the problem,,, but it does seem to upset the owners!!!

Great location but noisy

This is a very well kept Caravan Club site, yes the toilet blocks are a bit dated but were always clean and the site grounds maintained as you would expect from the Caravan Club. All pitches are grass and quite a few are very un level ! The site is very well located being just a 5 minute walk from the town centre with all the usual pubs, shops & restaurants (weatherspoons across the road) The downside is the constant industrial machinery noise from the adjacent plant (started at 7.30am and silence finally fell at 6pm) the other issue was the regimental style in which a couple of the wardens ran the place and were seen on numerous occasions telling members off for parking incorrectly and we were shouted at by the man for taking a 5 meter short cut on the one way system, neither were ambassadors for the Caravan Club which is a shame as you rarely come across such rude abrupt CC staff anymore !

Comment from the Club:-

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. The wardens work hard to ensure people have the best possible time at Tewkesbury Abbey and, as you can see from other reviews, are friendly and welcoming to guests on site. Thank you for raising your concern about industrial machinery noise. Please be assured that both the wardens and the Regional Manager have confirmed that this noise was in fact due to the local Rugby Club building new changing rooms. The noise heard on this day was caused by the old building’s rubble being crushed which has now been cleared.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.  Where we know in advance about local disruptions, we try our best to feature an alert message on the website to inform members.  Regarding parking - unfortunately during your stay a member had parked close to the entrance way which caused an obstruction and so the owner of the vehicle was politely asked to move it.  Our wardens are responsible for Health and Safety for all visitors to the site which is why it was pointed out to your good self that you had driven the wrong way down a one way system.  I hope this information is of help and thank you again for taking the time to write a review.

Friendly Staff, Shabby and Overcrowded Facilities in School Holidays

We visited for 2 nights towards the end of the recent school holidays.  As usual with the CC the site staff were excellent with a good welcome. All pitches were grass but with well drained and well cut grass that was no problem.  Sadly the facilities felt stretched to cope with the numbers on site.  I have done several reviews before and never had to be critical but here goes. There were queues for washing up and the toilets/showers were heavily used with the odd queue forming at times.  The mens toilets smelled badly of stale urine, enough to put me off showering there. Every time I went in I opened all the windows, it was pretty pongy.  There was obviously a water leak in the mens WCs as there was a lot of (hopefully only) water lying about every time I used them.  So not up to the usual CC standard I am afraid and I wasn't the only one saying it.  I had two conversations with others and without prompting from me they agreed with my view.  Time for a good makeover and expansion of facilities I think.
