A well kept site with good facilities

Stayed at Southport for the first time for three nights in mid Jan during the latter end of the cold spell. Site was only half open which was understandable being more of a fair weather site location, so was nice and quiet. Facilities were very good and always warm and clean, and the wardens were very helpful with our questions regarding the area. Site is well located for flat cycle routes, however we didn't bring our bikes as the weather forecast was not promising for our stay, but it did turn out better than expected. Took the train from Birkdale to Crosby to see the Beach Iron Men, a fascinating sight. Went to Birkdale town, and enjoyed some of the Cafes and shops in the centre, whilst admiring the avenues of quite impressive houses. Stopped in the Fishermans Rest and enjoyed a few drinks and nice meal. Had a nice walk along Southport's sea wall into town, which although a little tired, had some wonderful buildings and many of the shops were occupied

Nice quiet and well managed site

The site is well managed and the staff are both friendly and informative. However the site is some way from the centre of Southport (‘Lord Street) and as we were there in December we had to endure a long walk in the dark back to the site after sundown. The best places to eat are the clubhouse in Birkdale Village (a good walk) and the food hall in Southport Market. The site is quiet, although I think this may not be the case during the summer holidays, so make the most of it during the quiet season. We will definitely visiting again.

Great Stay Again BUT…….

We use this site 3 or 4 times a year we live in Southwest Scotland but have family in Lancashire so this site is ideal. But for some reason this visit was spoiled by very very load base music almost every night what appeared to be coming from the Park next to the site this was extremely loud and went on most nights till 10-10.30 pm I must say it didn’t enhance our stay someone must know where ar what it’s about because surely they have a license to make so much noise late at night or than that our stay was spot on as always. Plenty to do in Southport excellent Fish n Chips at the Swan Chippy fantastic Indian food at The Kalash Devine restaurant on Lord st within walking distance from the site and excellent all you can eat restaurant The Blue Anchor at Bretherton 20 minutes drive away. Caravan and Motorhome Club please investigate where the noise is coming from thanks

Perfect location - a great stay guaranteed

We visit regularly, great location being a short walk from the town centre, beach, fun fair and arcades with many walks and cycle routes nearby. Pitches are level and the toilets and showering facilities are cleaned to a high standard. All the wardens are helpful, accommodating and friendly. Our favourite of all our regular sites. Southport is a great place to stay for a short break or longer. Plenty to see and do. Can’t wait to return. Regardless of the weather, a good stay is guaranteed

Feel let

Have used this site before and generally had no issues. This weekend was different there was a noisy event in the adjacent park. This had a pounding bass note that went on from early in the day to 11pm. The continuous throbbing beat could be heard almost at the furtherest end of the site from the park. Had we known, and it is not beyond the wit of the booking system to flag up events that may affect the site, we would have avoided the site. Mobile telephone signal on 3 is very weak and the Wi-Fi signal was extremely poor and kept dropping out. I have been on sites in rural Spain and France where Wi-Fi was free, fast and reliable. All this for £65 for 2 nights.

Don't buy the Wi-fi

Had a lovely weeks stay, site quiet and very clean. Flat easy walking distance of Southport centre and attractions. RSPB site a short drive away with room to park motorhome. Caught bus to Crosby to see the Antony Gormley "Another place" statues as not much parking for a motorhome. Will definitely visit site again.

Don't buy the Wi fi

What an excellent site all round. Welcome herein August each year with the grandchildren who also love it. This year our granddaughter had to interrupt her fun as she had homework each night in prep for an up and coming school exam. We thought as this was such an important thing we would buy the club WiFi as we did not want petty interruptions putting her off the important stuff. We looked into it and was told that the site was rated as silver and this would be suitable for the task ahead..... How wrong this was...we were freezing ,buffering ,locked out , messages of unavailable WiFi. Yes the signal strength showed as good but this is irrelevant when there is no WiFi available........we felt really cheated and it doesn't help explaining to our grandchild's parents why she hadn't done all her homework Do not waste your money on this wifi

Lovely, quiet and peaceful site

We stayed for 3 nights for a little break which also included a visit to the Southport Flower Show. We arrived at 12.20 but were allowed to pay and then park up until the 1pm entrance time. While we waited we had a walk round the site to find the water point and see which pitches were available; which weren't many due the flower show. We chose pitch 20 which was on a bend on the roadway which meant we had a huge pitch, surrounded by a lot of grass. The site is very well laid out and quite spacious. It was lovely to see so many rabbits hopping about, they weren't fazed when you went close to them. We actually live in Sefton so we've been to Southport numerous as it's only 14 miles from home, usually as a day tripper though. So it was nice to be more like a holidaymaker! The town with its numerous attractions is a short walk away from the site. there is a Park & Ride about 5 minute walk from the site. this was not operating for the 3 days of the flower show. When it re-opened we took a trip on it to get to a further part of the town. It only cost £2 for both of us, so good value plus the ability to jump on and off all day. We spent a fascinating morning at The Atkinson, which is a theatre but also a museum, really worth a visit. Lovely coffee shop too. On the day we attended the flower show we were able to access Victoria Park from a short footpath from the site, we were there in a couple of minutes! Facilities at the site are as you'd expect from a club site, very clean and well maintained. We had a lovely stay and would thoroughly recommend even if you live local-you could be anywhere!

will be happy to stay here again

Not the first time we have stayed here and just like last time the site didn't disappoint, its quiet, clean and tidy, staff friendly and helpful, short walk to town or the beach, worth a look for sure if you haven't stayed here before.
