We always go away in between Christmas and New year and this year's choice of site was Southport, a site we are very familiar with and visit annually. Another super stay with hardworking friendly wardens doing what can only be described as a challenging vocation not only dealing day to day with people but also the maintenance, safety and cleanliness of their sites. Enduring Storm Gerrit in a motorhome was very taxing but thankfully, we survived the high winds and supercell thunderstorm unscathed, as did the site and the many other outfits and patrons on site. I'd like to note that many people on site had decorated their vans and awnings beautifully with festive lights, which made it feel very christmassy. A lot of rain meant again lots of flooding in the newer side of Southport site which has been ongoing since the expansion. Easy walk into Southport town centre which like many towns, especially in winter months sadly looked a bit grubby and tired. Lord St in particular needs a spruce up in my opinion. £125 for 3 nights paid and not sure any pitch in any site is worth that much and we are using club sites less and less because of the prices. We are very responsible and use little electric as our unit is set up so we can be off grid. I don't think CAMC is best value for money these days, privately owned site are cheaper but we trust the clubs standards and they are top notch at Southport.
As is with a lot of sites these days, not all I might add!! But the onus is being put on the visitors not the staff! More and more sites are reducing the waste bin facilities and assuming the clientele will walk 400 yards to put their rubbish in the bin. Given that membership fees have increased, site fees have increased, the club is thinking of putting meters on the bollards to charge us by the amp, it seems staff are getting a reduced workload. Club wifi has changed yet they still make a multi million pound turnover each year!!!!!!!! Love the sites but not the changes.
A lovely quiet place, our two dogs love it! It’s super clean staff lovely and helpful, love the books and dvd’s for those rainy nights when you can’t sit outside, Morrisons close by and some lovely walks along the front, short walk into town, we would highly recommend this lovely spot
Really great site, the staff are very polite and professional, the facilities were spotless and in great shape. the pitches were well laid out and spacious. Highly recommended.
Still one of the best sites clean tidy and well run with easy walk to the town through the kissing gate down rotten row. We picked the week and only found out about the airshow and the road closure around the site last minute but not a problem the Esplanade road which is normal one way had been open the other end to let us have access to the site. We try and not use the car in the week and rely on shanks pony or the train to visit Liverpool for shopping with trains running every 30 mins and 8 quid return to Liverpool Central it spot on and we felt safe. We try and eat at the fisherman's rest which i would recommend through the kissing gate turn right top of Rotten rd turn left about ten min walk in total.
This was our 3rd visit to this site. This site is in a great location for Southport or catching the train to Liverpool from Birkdale. The site was fairly busy but not full, on this occasion we had a hard standing with awning pitch. The pitch we had was spacious and level. We stayed for 9 nights and the weather for the beginning of September was an added bonus. The wardens are amazing and look after the site and facilities very well. We will be back.
Very friendly staff on arrival, clearly explained the pitching up procedure. Supplied us with site map, pointed out relevant paths and amenities, and supplied us with leaflet detailing site rules.
All staff we saw throughout our stay were busy beavering about with some job or other, but still flashed us a smile as they went past.
Spotlessly clean shower & toilet block.
Spotlessly clean site.
Useful, clear signage.
Site ideally placed for walking into Southport, less than 20 minutes to the heart of the town. Take the road route or the coastal scenic route!
We will certainly visit again, and recommend.
This site is a fantastic base for exploring Southport and the local area.
The staff are all very welcoming friendly and helpful.
the site is in great location the town is within walking distance and there are some lovely walks in & around the nearby nature reserve., The site is well kept site and clean.there are 2 very clean toilet & shower facilities on this site. We will be sure to return here in the future
This site is clean and within walking distance of Southport. It has easy access when you arrive. The wifi / TV signal was not the best
Due to its location, with public footpaths going through the middle of the site, the shower / toilet facilities are key access only which causes a little issue when you've got a couple of kids but manageable. You are also mindful of those not booked onto the site, walking around. The facilities were clean and tidy but would ask if they could change the pipes for the water / waste system, as these were damaged, meaning water went everywhere, other than in the barrel.
Southport was a nice town pre covid but now a little run down and is obviously struggling.
There is a children's park just outside of the site which is great and the children did enjoy the freedom of cycling around.
It was a little more expensive than some but OK for a brief weekend away
