The Best of British (seaside)

This was our first proper trip away in our (new to us) caravan, as complete novices. We chose well. Easy access, friendly welcome (no issue with digital membership card by the way), great location (nearest pub -The Fishermans Rest - 7 minutes walk - booking advisable for food), maximum 15 minutes to Lord Street through Victoria Park (or Rotten Row when the park closes in the evening). Fantastic Victorian architecture on Lord Street. So many places to eat too. We also walked into Birkdale which is nice - more places to eat and drink and is the nearest railway station. The traditional seaside arcades are not "in your face" like in other seaside towns. You don't actually have to walk past them if you don't want to, to enjoy the splendour of the town. My brother in law and I did go for the Viking (crazy) Golf which was great fun though. Didn't visit the famous lawn mower museum - we'll save that for our next visit ;-) Crosby down the coast for the Anthony Gormley statues. The site is typical Club - good location - first class facilities. Some of the pitches were flooded (it's very flat down the bottom end) but there had been heavy rain prior to our arrival and you chose your own pitch anyway so unaffected. WiFi is poor/unuseable, although we received an email before our visit saying they were upgrading - so need someone to update that - I wasn't convinced by what I heard that it would be much better. Unfortunately, typically, 4G signal is also poor - so bring the cards/jigsaws/DVDs for the rainy days. Finally a shoutout to the wardens who on the last day came up with a pin-alignment tool which I never knew existed having never needed one before (I have one now). Thought for a moment we weren't going home. We will be back!

Great location!

An excellent site with plenty of things to see and do within easy walking distance. Probably 10-15 minutes walking sees you in the town. Loads of shops and Pubs to choose from. The butchers by the market is excellent. Victoria Park adjacent to the site is dog friendly and the sand dunes lead you on to the sea front/ beach if you go the other way from the site. The facilities are excellent and spotless, not faulted in any way. Phil and Donna really go out of their way ( quite literally! ) with directing you to places to go, and every member of the site team cannot do enough to help you with any questions about the locality. Well worth a visit any time. The only thing I would say that could do with updating is the Motorhome service point, which although perfectly adequate due to the siting of the grids it takes a bit of guesswork before you get in the right position to empty your tanks. Not really a big problem though.

A great stay except for the admin

We had a lovely long weekend in Southport despite the February cold weather and the facilities were all the usual standard of the club sites. The only downside was the usual tussle with my membership being less than a year old - the club has stopped giving out “hard copy” membership cards but on this (and several previous occasions) staff at reception complain about my membership card being on my phone. Either it’s acceptable or not. Please sort it out!

Excellent standard of maintenance and cleanliness as always

We love visiting Southport club site, and do so many times every year. Disappointed that the large open area and associated shower block were closed, I understand for January each year due to reduced staff levels. Otherwise, everyone was spotless, and contact with wardens was friendly and helpful. This is a great location, with easy access (if you are reasonably mobile) to town, supermarket, sea front, park etc. Pleased that the coastal road/path to the RSPB site at Marshside has reopened and is easily accessible by bike. Disappointed that the pier, which is the second longest in England at almost one mile, remains closed by the LA, as we like to walk on it most days. Lovely walks along the marine lake, sea front, etc. Our go to site

A well kept site with good facilities

Stayed at Southport for the first time for three nights in mid Jan during the latter end of the cold spell. Site was only half open which was understandable being more of a fair weather site location, so was nice and quiet. Facilities were very good and always warm and clean, and the wardens were very helpful with our questions regarding the area. Site is well located for flat cycle routes, however we didn't bring our bikes as the weather forecast was not promising for our stay, but it did turn out better than expected. Took the train from Birkdale to Crosby to see the Beach Iron Men, a fascinating sight. Went to Birkdale town, and enjoyed some of the Cafes and shops in the centre, whilst admiring the avenues of quite impressive houses. Stopped in the Fishermans Rest and enjoyed a few drinks and nice meal. Had a nice walk along Southport's sea wall into town, which although a little tired, had some wonderful buildings and many of the shops were occupied

Nice quiet and well managed site

The site is well managed and the staff are both friendly and informative. However the site is some way from the centre of Southport (‘Lord Street) and as we were there in December we had to endure a long walk in the dark back to the site after sundown. The best places to eat are the clubhouse in Birkdale Village (a good walk) and the food hall in Southport Market. The site is quiet, although I think this may not be the case during the summer holidays, so make the most of it during the quiet season. We will definitely visiting again.

Great Stay Again BUT…….

We use this site 3 or 4 times a year we live in Southwest Scotland but have family in Lancashire so this site is ideal. But for some reason this visit was spoiled by very very load base music almost every night what appeared to be coming from the Park next to the site this was extremely loud and went on most nights till 10-10.30 pm I must say it didn’t enhance our stay someone must know where ar what it’s about because surely they have a license to make so much noise late at night or than that our stay was spot on as always. Plenty to do in Southport excellent Fish n Chips at the Swan Chippy fantastic Indian food at The Kalash Devine restaurant on Lord st within walking distance from the site and excellent all you can eat restaurant The Blue Anchor at Bretherton 20 minutes drive away. Caravan and Motorhome Club please investigate where the noise is coming from thanks

Perfect location - a great stay guaranteed

We visit regularly, great location being a short walk from the town centre, beach, fun fair and arcades with many walks and cycle routes nearby. Pitches are level and the toilets and showering facilities are cleaned to a high standard. All the wardens are helpful, accommodating and friendly. Our favourite of all our regular sites. Southport is a great place to stay for a short break or longer. Plenty to see and do. Can’t wait to return. Regardless of the weather, a good stay is guaranteed

Feel let

Have used this site before and generally had no issues. This weekend was different there was a noisy event in the adjacent park. This had a pounding bass note that went on from early in the day to 11pm. The continuous throbbing beat could be heard almost at the furtherest end of the site from the park. Had we known, and it is not beyond the wit of the booking system to flag up events that may affect the site, we would have avoided the site. Mobile telephone signal on 3 is very weak and the Wi-Fi signal was extremely poor and kept dropping out. I have been on sites in rural Spain and France where Wi-Fi was free, fast and reliable. All this for £65 for 2 nights.
