We've visited this site many times over the years from when it was mostly grass and only half the size to as it is now.
It's a great location for visiting other places around the north west area.
The site facilities are spotless and the site staff work very hard to keep it that way.
It's not the cheapest of sites but, for us, worth the difference as we like the location and the standard of the facilities.
Good food to be had at The Fishermen's Rest.
Great choice of supermarkets; Morrison's within walking distance or Tesco and the new Sainsbury's are a short drive away.
One of our favourite sites
The arrival was as always exemplary, greeted by helpful and cheerful wardens (don't know if that's what we should now call them, but meant in nice way). Told about a small number of pitches that could possible flood in bad weather and that these were marked out with cones. However the weather forecast didn't predict any rain so if we felt okay we could remove the cones and use them. The ambiance of the whole site is so relaxing, the only intrusion was the occasional mindless idiot who thought it necessary to make as much noise as possible on the road running behind the site. The facilities are as to be expected from the C&MC. Our weekend stay coincided with the Southport Food & Drinks Festival and with the fine weather this proved to be a fantastic opportunity to experience a vast array of different foods and drinks. It really enhanced our stay and would certainly consider visiting the festival again. But, I digress, food and drink does this to me. Southport site for my wife, me and our two dogs suits us down to the ground. The excellent flat large gravel pitches (important for us as motor homers) are set around two sections with a layout to suit all different sizes and combinations. One thing to note though is that the perimeter pitches do have frequent visits from the rabbit population and if you have pets that may be a problem, especially as these rabbits have lost a lot of their timidness and will come very close. Overall we have frequented this site at differing times even once over the Christmas period and it has never been a let down. It's proximity to Southport Town, the Promenade, Victoria Park and even a large Morrison's all being within walking distance make it so easy to set-up and just enjoy.
FLOODS
This site FLOODS and the management dont care. Scottish hospitality and leadership at its very very worst.
They dont even tell you that the pitch you have chosen floods and not to put your awning up and not to leave anything on the ground.
Their solution is to leave empty pallets at your pitch for you to walk on above the flood water. I have been advised to get copies of risk assessments from the CAMC as this is clearly a safety issue that needs to be followed up.
NOT happy!!!!
Excellent Club Site
Just had our first 6 night stay at Southport.
Staff welcoming and friendly. No queue at all (we arrived at 1400 on a Thursday so maybe we dodged the busier times), but very simple checking in and finding a good pitch to suit us.
Site was spotless as were the shower and toilet blocks. Service points were excellent and none were too far away.
Very easy to find, nothing difficult on the approach or exit.
We will definitely be back again and again
Only 1 thing wrong
Need to stop people paying when arriving it slows down the booking in process and then there wouldn't ba as many vans on road outside
Another stay at this great site.
We decided to go to Southport site again seeing as it was a long weekend for Easter,it is about the fifth time we have visited this gem of a site, each time we have a different pitch just to see how we get on,however this time as we checked in we were advised that we had booked a non awning pitch which didn't matter anyway but we had only booked two nights, not the three that I had amended the booking for, this was a real disappointment but the very friendly and efficient wardens who were very busy at the one o clock booking in time suggested I try back later and hey presto they were able to fit us in for an extra night,on such a busy weekend.Everything was as it should be on a well run site, showers spotless as always,no litter hanging about and even the weather turned out to be a lovely weekend, amazing what these wardens can do....We were so pleased with all this I have asked them to move my booking from Blackpool to this site in Southport, which they did with no issues whatsoever.Great site and a great time had by everyone that we spoke to,cant wait to get back there in May.A big thank you to all concerned at this wonderful site, see you soon.
Excellent site and Wardens
First time stay at Southport, stayed with motorhome, Great friendly wardens, very helpful and good banter, perfect hosts. Site itself very well presented modern and clean. Immaculate toilets and shower facilities, pitch large and clean and flat with 16A EHU, Perfect drive over drains on motorhome service point and water fill hose and Elsan nearby. No complaints at all regarding the site. Great for walking into Southport, site adjacent to Victoria Park, plenty to see and do, leave the van and take a walk into town 10 minute walk, perfect.
Will be returning soon, highly recommend.
First time on the site
We arrived about 2pm and the queue down the road to get onto the site was extremely long which we have never experienced before. Once on the site reception staff were welcoming, quick and friendly. I think it would have been helpful to have a warden outside monitoring/advising people arriving etc. and some vehicles were causing more congestion outside reception stopping other vehicles moving off.
The site is large with 2 service/toilet blocks. Closure of toilets in each block to clean was different so meant there was always somewhere to use. Access to toilets/showers/laundry/dishwashing is via a key given after you tell them your pitch no. which we didn't mind but don't forget your key when you want to use the facilities as you might have a long walk back to your van! We did this and so did a few other people. The ladies are on the other side of the building in block B and there is only one access path to get to it so I would suggest another path would be helpful for those who might struggle to walk far. All pitches are spacious, hard standing and mainly flat. There are paths to the road, sand dunes, park & town. Everywhere is clean and tidy and staff always friendly when you saw them.
We were disappointed there isn't a dog shower on site when they advertise a dog walk off site and have paths from the site to areas where you can walk dogs that will make them muddy.. We have 2 dogs and there were many dog owners using the site. Luckily for us the weather wasn't too bad so it wasn't an issue but it could have been. I wasn't sure if it was acceptable to use the waste water tap to wash a dog...
All in all it is a very nice site with good facilities and we would visit again.
Sunny Southport
Excellent site all facilities are brilliant and also very clean. Very close to Southport town we will definitely be coming here again
Excellent stay as always!
We love coming to this site & have made many friends - nothing to crumble about as all services & facilities are top notch & adequately charged for 👍😎
