Warm and welcoming

Wardens both sets are absolute stars. Welcome when we arrived, leaflets on dog friendly beaches, eateries and walks. Weather really kind and up most mornings walking the dogs along quiet country lanes that enable off lead time at 7 am. Array of wildlife to be seen. Great to view the red kites. New Quay excellent beaches with a dog friendly beach and the total area of New Quay was very clean and tidy. Dolphins seen most days we were there as at Aberporth. Another excellent beach just two miles away. Good base to set off visiting other areas, however useful to note that Cardigan Bay has very little open on a Sunday and closes early on Wednesday. Llanarth has good farm shop selling meat, pies, bread milk and next door is a Premier shop. Both reasonably priced and we walked there and back around 3 miles. The Llaninan Arms good value for home cooked food. Children happily playing tag and cycling with the majority of members adhering to the site speed limit. Finally would advise to follow site direction from handbook as some lanes are very narrow with limited passing places. Had an excellent week. We are set to return.

Can't wait to come back

As we have come to expect in a Caravan and Motorhome Club site, The Wardens are friendly, facilities are excellent and the site is spotless. Due to difficulties with the car, we were later than expected and the Wardens gave us a call to say there are no late arrival facilities on the site and to give us instructions. As it happened, we were about 20 minutes away so on arrival, despite the reception being closed, the wardens gave us the site information and advised us on the best place to pitch up as there were no hard standings left. When we had an waning canopy pole snap due to a brief storm, the relief warden could not be more helpful as we came up with a repair solution. We were at the site for a week and despite the weather not being kind, still found plenty to do in Aberaeron, New Quay and Cardigan. We even spent a day up at the Elan Valley reservoirs, (About 1 hour 45 minutes away). For the cyclists amongst you there are some lovely rides and lots of lanes to explore but the Aberaeron to Cardigan road does get very busy so its not a comfortable ride. I found a nice loop that goes north from the site to join the A482 where I headed to Lampeter where I turned right onto the A 475 through Drefach as far as Rhydowen where I turned right onto the B4459 and followed the signs to Llanarth. Take a compact though the hills can be mighty

nice site

We stayed here 3 nights, its a remote site halfway between Cardigan and Aberystwyth so you need transport as nearest busstop is 1.5 miles from the site and free busses on a weekend. Small cosy site with excellent wardens, clean toilets but is suffering low water pressure so showers taking longer. Some noise from barking dogs who seemed to yap atnything that moved but a nice site overall places to visit within a few miles are new quay, aberaeron and c20 miles Aberystwyth and devils bridge for the steam train journey. Free parking in aberystwyth promenade with good selection of things to do, nice crierion museum, with good cafe, nice ruined castle surprisingly free with great views.

Excellent site!

Stayed for a short period here last week, first visit and what a great site. Peaceful, relaxing, immaculately clean, an absolute credit to the brilliant wardens! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning for a longer stay in the near future. During our stay there was a problem with the local water supply which meant that the supply to the site had to be switched off a few times, absolutely totally out of the wardens or the clubs control. However the wardens went out of their way to keep us fully informed regarding the situation by relaying whatever information they were able to glean as and when they had it, they were excellent! Aberaeron and New Quay are both within a very short distance from the site and the coastal path between makes for a very pleasant walk. Given more time we will I'm sure explore much more of the surrounding area during a future stay.

Sleepy Site

We were here for ten nights in mid July, sleepy site , wardens some of the nicest have met , very helpful explaining places to go , and saying hello . Stayed on plot close to toilet block 29 l think , only because site was very full, noise from either air con or water heater starting up every ten to fifteen minutes bit annoying , low hum , including all night , sat in caravan trying to work out where noise was coming from to begin with. Felt the wooden toilet block although spotless was bit dated . Lovely area to visit ,coastal walks ,coastal towns and small bays even saw dolphins from the cliffs on one walk ,but you have to drive everywhere as there are no public footpaths from or close to the site you have to walk down narrow lanes.

peacefull relaxing , fantastic

what can I say regarding shawsmead caravan site. well perfect , the site wardens are so friendly and helpful really make you enjoy the stay. grass piches are lovely and big although higher up the site a sea view is good too on hard standing only. We know the area well and its perfect for new quay and aberaron . there are lovely coves and great pubs . not what families with kids want , that's possibly why it was so perfectly peacefull

siting your caravan on hard standing pitches

shawsmead caravan club site has all the usual service points washing and laundry facilities and is kept spotless by the excellent wardens and is ideally placed for access to aberaeron and new quay and many more special places to visit ,my only small complaint with the site is that when asked to position your caravan with the drivers side rear corner up to the white peg. because the access roads are one way the caravan corner and white peg are completely out of site to the driver , my wife tries to help but usually just tells me its wrong, its pointless saying well I use a mover because that only applies to people that have motor movers ,it might be considered a small niggle but if I can see the peg I can reverse up to it ,if I can't see the peg I can't reverse up to it -only guess

So relaxing

We had 6 nights on the site. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. The toilet block very clean. We heard the owl [lovely)as were all the other birds singing away. A area were you could travel a short distance to some of the most lovely beaches. Weather was perfect so from the main road got so very nice sunset pictures. Will be paying another visit in the future.

Quiet and peaceful site

Enjoyed a three night stay in April 2017. Site is in the countryside but within a short traveling distance of Aberaeron and New Quay. Amenities were lovely and clean and the site wardens friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this site if you like a peaceful stay in the countryside. Possibly not for families with young children as there is no play area but plenty of beaches nearby.

Brilliant site

This was our second stay on this site. Nice and peaceful, facilities immaculate and the wardens really friendly and helpful. Red kites circling the field, what more could you possibly ask for! Highly recommended.
