Lovely Site

I last stayed at West Ayton some 45 years ago with my parents and to be honest don't remember much. We have just spent the late May bank holiday weekend there. I have to say we were very impressed with the site overall. Although this is a big site, the split levels and landscaping meant it didn't feel big. As with all Caravan Club sites, it was clean and well kept. The dog walk area was lovely and plenty of room for our dog to stretch his legs and it also linked to longer walks should you wish to do so. This site is handy for visiting lots of places in North Yorkshire, we had a trip into Scarborough one evening, a day in Whitby and a short ride on the North Yorks Moors Railway steam train from Aidensfield oops I mean Goathland, for those that watched Heartbeat. The shower block is dated as are a lot of Caravan Club sites but was clean and tidy. You do tend to get spoilt when you visit Poolsbrook which is all very new (albeit is unbearably hot to the point of being unusable in warm weather). I did see one thing that was a bit offputting, in one of the ladies toilet cubicles someone had left a used ladies item on top of one of the bins. Not pleasant for anyone to see, least of all the wardens who have to clean them. I do find it astonishing that people can be so gross. For those that use wifi, as we do, the signal was very good and never had any problem getting on the internet. We had fantastic weather which always helps and it was nice to be able to sit outside for a change and watch the world go by. There is a fish and chip van that's calls on a Friday night but as we had bought supplies we didn't make use of it. All in all a lovely site if you want to explore the East Coast and its many attractions. Although we didn't have any children with us, there was a big play area for the kids.
