Generally good, definitely not 5 stars

We have been going to this site for several years as we like the location. It;s a shame that so many grass pitches have been lost over the years as we prefer them. The dog walk has been much improved by extending it. I know the site has to be maintained but I wish wardens would refrain from cutting grass and hedges at weekends. Also, why does the CC have to buy such incredibly noisy machinery? The little tractors and the petrol hedge cutters you use are the noisiest I've come across. Many commercial sites use much quieter machines. I also don't understand why CC sites insist on closing shower blocks in the mornings. The most likely time people want to use them is in the morning, especially if you are vacating the site that day and it's a pain when the shower blocks are close. Why can't the cleaning be done between 12 and 1pm? The major issue we have however is one which is now common place on all CC sites and which is not being taken seriously by the club- that is excessive speed. solo cars, cars towing caravans and motorhomes were routinely exceeding the 5mph limit, quite a few by a considerable margin. Many of the speeders are by no means young drivers. Will it take someone to be seriously injured or even killed before the club takes this increasing problem seriously? It has to be said that the wardens themselves were routinely driving their tractors at more than 5mph and even worse were frequently seen driving the wrong way on the one way section close to our pitch!! I don't suggest speed cameras on sites, however electronic speed display boards are not expensive and make it very easy for everyone to see how fast someone is driving. This would also make it easier to report speeders. These people are behaving dangerously and it's high time this issue was addressed. I saw a warden pacing the distance between 2 caravans, which were not too close together, yet speeders are left to carry on. Finally, and not the fault of the club, the Old Forge Valley Inn in the village charge a 50p surcharge for DEBIT card payments!!. I complained about this to them as we have never been charged for using a debit card at any other pub. This is pure profiteering and we would never use this pub again.

The points you have raised about speeding on site are very serious but nobody does anything about the problem.  Some years back we were unfortunate enough to be at Rowntree Park when a small child was killed, these awful memories will never go away and I hope campers will take note and slow down - please!
