An Excellent Site

A very pleasant site with good facilities, although these might be a bit stretched if the site was full with tents as well as caravans. We had a service pitch, which was a very generous size. However, one point to note is that because of the positioning of the combined EHU / water points, there is a 50 percent chance that you will need up to 15 metres of water hose. In 10 years and visits to several all facility sites, we have managed with the standard 8 metre length, so had to purchase an extension.  The weather was very good during our stay and we made full use of it, walking most days. Numerous walks, of moderate difficulty, are available without using the car. Swallow falls is about a 4.5 mile walk, the best route being up the opposite side of the valley to the A5. The view from this side is better and you may even have it to yourself, as we did. Several well marked walks are available in the forestry commission woods  to the north west of the site. It also seemed good for bikes. A short train ride to Pont-y-pant gives a very pleasant 5 mile walk back over the hill to the site. As far as food is concerned we can recommend the Bodnant farm shop which sells lots of local produce. A visit to Bodnant gardens can be combined with calling in for supplies on the way back. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.
