Good for families

Depends on what you want from site...

As others have said follow instructions from manual into site but yes that approach road is awful...bad enough when driving out from site but with caravan attached just take it steady in case of traffic coming in opposite direction. Arrived at site (on time) to an almost frosty reception - no welcome, no smiles, no how was your journey etc - found out from fellow caravaner that they are actually the site managers ! Think they need a course on customer service.... The other site wardens and support team there are lovely - very friendly and helpful. That said the site is almost in two halves both with clean well looked after facilities. The pitches are reasonably level and of decent size ( some seasonal grassy ones looked a bit odd ) There is a large playing field for children with climbing frames etc (not got kids )Dog field is of good size for site but that's it. You can walk into Stoke Gabriel but some is on the road and those less mobile shall we say might find the inclines in parts a bit steep. The village is pretty (in the sunshine) only has postoffice/shop, a pub or two and small restaurant (open at set times/days)Church & small craft style shop - you can access the Riverside Shack for refreshments at the estuary but after that there is not much else. Was told you could walk to Totnes (didn't try it but good luck!) Weather wasn't that brilliant so only went out couple of days - Brixham - lovely fishing Harbour - walked to Berry Head to Old Fort - beautiful views & Dolphins, also cafe for refreshments there. Fab fish & chip shop (can"t remember name)but have restaurant upstairs & will allow dogs in :) Used park & ride to visit Dartmouth - lovely place, walk to castle is worth it very interesting, variety of shops & eateries. Good day out. You can catch a bus outside site entrance to different places but did not use. To exit the site is from a different gate - again beware of speeding locals. A nearby farm building does hold "raves" or parties on occasions and the sound does drift down - it was quiet by 11.00pm that night. In all lovely site, but not for us as not enough dog friendly walks from site and although both experienced drivers & caravaners the access road puts us off as we come for relaxation not driving with your eyes on stalks.
