Unhappy motorhomer

Was very pleased with the site and facilities. The staff very friendly and helpful. Now the bad part, the access lane to the site is ridiculous and very narrow and dangerous. Arrival for us was frightening to say the least as we got stuck with an oncoming car and caravan on one of the very narrow passing places with no where to go. As we all pay a small fortune for our valuable caravans and motorhomes something drastically needs to be done to improve the access lane.Luckily we suffered no damage but cant speak for other users of this site or the other 3 sites that we found of this lane. Would i return no not without drastic improvement to this lane.  Now we understand why people were arriving through the night or very early in the morning so as not to meet any traffic on this lane. Surprised the club has not tried to get an improvement  reguarding the lane as the sites in a popular area.

One week in Ramslade

I was pleased with the site and it's facilities. All the staff were helpful and pleasant to deal with, welcoming is the word. We were unlucky with the weather, rain for a fair bit of our stay but the site stood up well to the weather, well drained and no puddles lingering. Location for most of the attractions resorts was good.

My Stay

Ramslade caravan club touring site Having read all the reviews for this site we booked a twelve night stay,, must be the worst decision we ever made since starting caravanning, access is ridiculous, a narrow lane with few passing places, a challenge even without towing a caravan, came face to face with an 80 seater coach, who just sat in the centre of the lane and advanced, damaged my car and caravan trying to get past this moron , and I was following to the letter the sites access instructions, comment from the wardens 'lots of our sites around here' well take a look at how others clear there sites by 12pm and don't allow arrivals before 1pm in narrow accessed sites and are strict about it is my advice My introduction to the access road from the instructions to turn left before the pub had me meeting a large rig being driven by a women on the first bend who nervousness was apparent, she stopped dead and expected everyone else to manoeuvre around her To be honest as a driver of over fifty years, including heavy goods vehicles as well as towing this site although pleasant is not fit for purpose without vast improvements to the accessibility ,I feel so strongly that I will be not renewing my membership to the caravan club because of it, to class it on email advertising as a recommended site with out pointing our the appalling access is criminal and the misleading information is ruining my holiday, every outing is a confrontation on this busy farm lane ,bus service a joke ,makes the problem worse ,a rural setting certainly but did not know I needed a tractor, heavily sloping pitches and ground that bends pegs, We have paid for july/aug for twelve nights and this is our honest opinion, avoid it like the plague Now the good bits, staff and site fabulous , pitches on grass require lots of packing up and a motor mover to achieve level standing, hard standing mainly level, toilet blocks and showers spotless and all services not far away, massive dog walk and child's play area and even caravan storage on site, fish and chips on site fantastic but soon runs out of supplies

Comment from The Club

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and we are sorry that you had some difficulty in accessing the site.  The Access statement for Ramslade  states “access to the site is along a country lane” and this road is used by vehicles such as the school coach which picks up the local children and a bus which collects the elderly therefore providing a vital community service.  I have passed your comments across to our Site Operations Department who are responsible for putting together the Access Statements thus providing them with valuable feedback regarding staggered check in and check out times.  Thank you again for leaving a review.

Brilliant 10 nights

Just returned from a fantastic holiday with friends. The site is above standard for caravan club, the wardens were very hard working when it came to keeping the site in tip top conditon. The showers were brilliant, very clean. The approach to the site was  tight in places for 1.5 miles & the directions in the caravan club book left a lot to be desired! I was surprised by the lack of children on the site to say it was the middle of the holiday & the site was silent after 9pm, which seemed a little early to me, especially in the middle of summer. The fish and chip man is a great night off cooking and the play area is super for the kids. The negatives are; dont bother taking bikes, the lanes are dangerous to car users let alone cyclists! The wi-fi is the waste of £10, I paid and only managed access a couple of times. Other than that, we had no complaints. A lovely base to explore south Devon, highlights for me were, blackpool sands (£7 parking - but worth it) kingsbridge, totnes & brixham all worth a visit. Happy holidays!!!!

Fantastic site!

Having spent nearly 2 weeks here, we were very impressed with the facilities and cleanliness of this site. The staff were constantly maintaining the site making sure it was clean, tidy and not a blade of grass out of place! Whilst the access roads are very narrow and there were lots of roadworks on the way into Paignton, once we were there it was worth it. The showers/toilet block were immaculate and always had plenty of hot water. It was great having the laundry room and a games room to keep the kids busy. The play area was super with plenty of room for the kids to burn off some energy. Whilst we didn't take our dog the dog walk/field was spacious and kept in great condition. There is a mobile fish & chip van that comes to the site twice a week which we can highly recommend.  If I had to say anything negative about the site it would be the wifi. We paid for the connection however it was very slow and sometimes didn't even connect at all. Not worth the money to be honest but not the end of the world.  We would love to revisit the site and can highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of visiting!

Happy Holiday

Lovely clean site with friendly helpful staff. The first CC site we've stayed on that actually caters for under 5's too -  with a small paddling pool and play equipment which both of our 2 under 5 children loved. The park was based within easy reach of Paignton and Torquay and literally less than a 10 minute drive from Paignton Zoo.  If you don't want to drive to any of the above there is a bus stop just outside the exit gate. Ramslade, we will definitely be back even if you are a little hilly!!!!

Fantastic site spoilt by noisy neighbours and poor access

The site is in a lovely location but access is by a very narrow mile and a half winding road. It has some passing places but is hindered greatly by the bushes on either side not being cut back. We left very early in the morning to try and avoid oncoming traffic but still got stuck for 20 mins as another caravan and several cars were coming the other way and we weren't anywhere near a passing place. We were opposite one of the most inconsiderate families, their kids were up til all hours screaming and shouting I had a word with the wardens who were sympathetic but nothing was done. The shop on site was very handy but a pound for a tin of beans, £1.70 for a loaf and £4.00 for 6 sausages, come on! Overall a good holiday spoilt by inconsiderate people.

no going there again

good site if you like a crowded with plenty of children running around playing ball between pitches, and riding bicycles up and down the pathways without control, with no intervention from the management

Great Location

Just spent 2 super weeks. This is our first visit to the site and we would def return. We are a family with three children. They loved the park and large playing field to run about in. There is also a small paddling pool which kept them entertained on a couple of occasions. They were especially pleased when the warden switched the bubbles on! We had a serviced pitch near the exit which was very spacious. Lots to do in the area. Paignton worth a visit. Brixham a lovely little village. We did the steam train and ferry across to Dartmouth which was lovely. Torquay also lovely. Splash pool in Goodridding worth a visit and the water was heated. Fish and chip van comes to site on tues and sat night which was very popular so queue early! nice 20 min walk into Stoke. Gabriel lovely cafe and children loved crabbing. We took our bikes but did not use them as the roads are narrow and busy. Asda, Morrisons, Sainburys and Aldi all within 5 mins of the site . Clean facilities and helpful wardens
