Good for families

Great site to base yourself to explore Devon.

We stayed here for nine nights on pitch 71. This is a great site which is a credit to the wardens who run and maintain it. As with all club sites the standard of the facilities is high and it is a very pleasant site to stay at. It has a short dog walk on site through a wooded area and there is another path at the top of the site that leads directly to the Hare & Hounds pub. Just be aware that these dog friendly areas are adjacent a road that can be busy at times and there is no fence between them. The Hare & Hounds is one of the most Dog friendly pubs you will find, the food, carvery and drinks are very reasonable but if you wish to eat there it’s worth booking as it gets very busy. Some of the grass pitches at the top of the site slope a fair bit and some of the hard standings on the right as you enter are quite small and the serviced pitch area seems a bit crammed as well. There are lots of towns and beaches within easy driving distance and lots to see and do. On Wednesdays & Fridays the wardens also take orders for and collect Fish & Chips if ordered earlier in the day. The site office/shop has a good stock of essentials and other items and also takes orders for newspapers which is handy. The nearest shop is a large Tesco about 2 miles towards Honiton which has everything you could need and a fuel station. There also appeared to be a very good bus service a short walk from the site. We also discovered towards the end of our stay, if you turn right as you leave the site there is a NT wood on the left after about a mile with some beautiful walks and views over the countryside. Would we stay there again, absolutely, without question. A big Thank You to the four wardens who run the site and look after their visitors so well.
