First visit

We stayed here for three weeks during the height of last month's heatwave. The wardens were very welcoming, a good start. We had booked a serviced pitch and had initial problems with the water supply, which we eventually sorted with the willing assistance of one of the wardens. The site is handy for exploring the east Devon coast, and local attractions. It's also close to the main road network for trips further afield. The Hare and Hounds is just up the road and has an excellent carvery and real ales straight from the barrel. Wednesday and Friday are fish and chips nights. Order at the office, and a warden collects for you. Beats standing around outside a chip van! The quality is decent as well. There's a bit of noise from agricultural traffic on the adjacent road, and the site is under the flight path for Exeter airport. We weren't bothered by this but some people might be. We weren't impressed by the Honiton Tesco, the one at Seaton is much better though further away. One niggle is the directions to the site in the club handbook. Travelling from the north, you're taken off the M5 at Taunton onto a convoluted tour of its suburbs before joining a B Road to the A303/A30 to Honiton and the A375. We discussed with another couple whose advice was to use the A30 to get to and from the M5. We took that advice for the homeward trip. It probably adds about 20 miles to the journey, but it really is much simpler. All in all an excellent holiday, and we're actively considering returning next year.
