Great wardens and great site

One of the best kept sites. Immaculate even down to the bins being washed. The wardens Bill and Julie are very warm and welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. We love this site.

A beautiful site

We have recently returned home from a week's stay at this beautiful site. It is in a lovely peaceful location, next to a little stream. Yes, there is a railway line adjacent, but for someone who hates noise, it really wasn't a problem. The site is beautifully maintained, and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. There is lots to see locally. Would recommend Raglan Castle (and the adjacent cafe), and a trip to Tintern. We've already recommended the site to my Sister!!

Great little site

We stayed for just 3 nights, but the wardens were SO friendly, making us feel at home from the start. The site wasn't cluttered with "do not" signs, which characterises so many sites - a breath of fresh air. The site is very handy for Black Mountain walks and easy to access.

Peaceful site with lovely views

Bill and Julie are wonderfully friendly and helpful hosts (it sounds too officious to call them Wardens) who keep an immaculate site. You can go for long (or shorter) circular walks directly from the site, or there's a regular bus service to Hereford in one direction or Abergavenny in the other. Plus, there's a pub offering CMHC members a discount within 100m! What more could you ask? OK, so the facilities block is showing it's age but we still enjoyed showers that were more powerful than at home! The occasional Sprinter trains that run alongside the site didn't disturb us at all.

Lovely visit

Lovely welcome from the Wardens, always happy to suggest good walks. The trains passing didn’t bother us. The freight train didn’t pass on weekends, the passenger train was Only two carriages and quieter than a car. Lovely. Space behind the caravan to sit outside to watch the river flow by. Carpenter Arms was lovely, so was our visit to Abergavenny. Will visit again. Shower block dated but spotlessly clean and warm.

Warm welcome from wardens still enthusiastic at the very end of the season

We love this site and visit two or three times a year as it's only 45 minutes from home. The grounds and facilities are immaculately kept by Bill and Julie, the friendly helpful wardens who are a credit to the Club. The riverside dog walk is more than adequate for 'first and last' walks but there are some fantastic longer walks with amazing views directly from the site. The Pandy Inn is about 500 yards from the site but we'd recommend the small, old-fashioned Carpenters Arms which is a 45 minute walk or a couple of miles by car. The food is truly homemade and delicious. Booking recommended. Although the toilet and shower block is kept spotlessly clean, it is showing its age. The showers were exceptionally hot and powerful though! Can't wait to visit again in spring 2019.

Third stop of Wales road trip

We first visited this site over twenty years ago when we had a caravan. Now we have a campervan (Trigano Tribute) This year for our two weeks hols we decided to do a memory lane trip also taking in some new places! This was our third stop 17th September lovely greeting from the wardens and the site is lovely facilities spotless brilliant dog walk (we dont have a dog but always check them out as we hope to have one when we can stop working!) the play area for the kiddies is a small field great idea instead of the usual climbing frames etc! Well recommended site pub close by serves good food.

How a Club Site should be kept

This site is a shining example of how a Club site should be run 1. A great welcome and an effortless check in 2. The grounds on this site are immaculate 3.The shower block is dated , but is super clean and cobweb free inside and outside 4.The wardens are a fountain of knowledge 5. The pitches are absolutely superb not a weed insight 6.The dog walk is a short walk by a small river, just right for a Westie 7. All wardens should visit this site and take note , this site should be the standard for all sites 8. Thanks for a wonderful stay Steve and Gloria

Beautiful well kept site by exceptional wardens.

Spacious site with walks to local hills. The toilet block is very dated but always kept clean. The shower heads are detachable from the wall and can give a powerful jet,no dribbles high up on a wall. The noise from the trains only last a short time and never disturb.Abergavnny is a short 5 mile drive and well worth a visit. If you have a motorhome there is a bus stop for Abergavenny and Hereford. Do not take the road close by sign posted Hay on Rye ,it is single track for 19 miles and unless you enjoy the tension of what’s around the next corner . I lost count how many times I met a tractor and had to reverse. I found it a lot easier to go via Abergavenny.
