Lovely small site for access to Offa's Dyke Path.

I stayed here for two nights at the beginning of June and the wardens could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The site itself is small and well spaced out with lots of greenery and a mixture of pitch types. The dog walk is fabulous, with a long fenced area of short cut grass leading into the woods and down to the river, which was a wonderful place for dogs to cool off after a long walk up one of the many hills close to the site. As others have said, you can't ignore the trains which do run right beside the pitches along one side of the site and are very loud, if only for a few seconds each time. I was awoken a couple of times during my first night but less so on the second and I suspect it would become less intrusive the longer one stayed. However, if you can live with the trains, the site is otherwise perfectly peaceful and in a brilliant location for walking and exploring the surrounding countryside.

Fabulous Location !

Stayed at this site in May. Fabulous and well looked after, wardens doing a great job. Dog walk very good. There is a lovely river flowing passed the site added to this there is a busy railway line on the oposite side. I would say the tranquility of the river outways the noisiness of the trains or to put it better "What Trains". We will return to this site.

You cannot ignore the trains

Access to this site is very easy, the wide entrance is just 50m off the A465. Current wardens are very pleasant and helpful.  Booking in was stress free, hampered only by a few inconsiderate members who thought that the off site by 12 noon request didn't apply to them. The site is a mix of hard standing and grass pitches.  At the time of our visit the ground was dry and firm. The toilet block is a little dated, but is not tired and was kept spotlessly clean for the duration of our stay. The site is immaculate and very scenic, with the tranquillity being broken only by passing trains.  This is a busy line, and if this is going to bother you, you'd be better off staying away. It didn't bother us much as we pitched riverside, but you cannot ignore it. The site has no shop to speak of and the play area is a fenced off area of grass.  The dog walk is great and offers a pleasant stroll for morning and evening necessities. TV reception was good through our directional status ariel and we had reasonable 4G on EE, Tesco was ok for calls and texts only.

Very nice staff

Lovely site. Welcoming staff. Need better signage at the turning to the site. Had to ask at the pub just next to the site as we couldn't see the sign from the road. Would benefit from a few more shower cubicles but overall excellent and we would visit again!

Enjoyable stay

Had a lovely 3 night break at Pandy toilet block clean and tidy a nice clean site. Trains do go past very fast but the noise isn't too intrusive. Lovely inn a two minute walk away with great meals, plenty of places nearby to visit we would return. The Skirrid Inn up the road is well worth a visit!

Perfect site for exploring Mid Wales

A small site with a good mixture of hardstanding and  grass pitches. As usual the staff were friendly and helpful until I allowed my dogs to run on what was labelled as a play area. Just an open patch of well-mown grass which would have been ideal for a family game of cricket or something similar. A very pleasant dog walk led you alongside a fast-flowing mountain stream where I was lucky enough to spot a dipper on my first evening, which sadly did not return to pose for photos for the rest of my stay. The dawn chorus was melodic but the Arriva trains passing close to the site may have irritated some, as they sat out with their barbecues or reading books. With a public house situated within 50 metres of the site entrance ideal for a bite or a pint in the evening some may say, "What more could you ask for?" The showers were the hottest I have known on any site but were very easy to use and not at all crowded at the usual rush hour times. On the whole a very pleasant site suited to the fitter, older types rather than those with a young family.

Pandy re-visited

A great, we'll run site, from the time you arrive you feel relaxed. We gave the site an overall score of 4 stars, it's a 5 star site apart from the nearest shop is some miles away and the main railway line runs directly behind the site, little noisy but after a couple of hours you tend not to notice the trains going by. Facilities, toilet block and showers are all very clean and presentable. The individual parking areas are spacious giving plenty of room for you Camper van and awning. There is also a short dog walk attached to the site. Not the first time to visit Pandy, we love the ambience and tranquility that's within the site. You need to book early as there are only 50 parking areas. Also a added bonus is the Pandy pud approx 50 yards from the entrance. Great pint of Butty Bach, plus the meals are very reasonable. Dogs allowed in the bar.

Back to Pandy

Back to Pandy again - well it is so convenient and a good little spot.  It is small and compact with good level pitches and the toilet blocks are always spotless. There is no play area hence I have marked only four stars for familys and the passing trains will spoil one or two peoples peace and quiet. The site is a little bit away from it all which will be ideal for some but it would be handy to have a good shop a little closer than Abergavenny. I hope my four star overall rating does not put people off as this site truly is worth a visit and we will definitely go again.  The wardens are very helpful and keep the place in top order. There is plenty of wonderful walks and interesting places nearby to visit. TV signal can be a bit dodgy.  Give it a go it is worth it.

Pandy site

I have been to this site quite a few times now and I always enjoy my stay. There are plenty of places to go to walk and Cardiff is not to far away, so shopping or a visit to one of the national trust places of interest are only 35 to 40 mins away.  The facilities on site are always kept to a high standard which I like. The shop used to sell a few basic things but has now stopped due to the lack of demand. The wardens are friendly and very helpful. The only downside is that members do sometimes forget to take their dogs to the dog walking area and allow them to foul on the area they are pitched on. I know it's cleaned up but it is not nice for the next person especially if they have young children. This is by no way a criticism of the warden's just a few short sighted members.  There is a nice pub a few yards out of the site to relax and eat if you wanted. The food is generally very good. The bar staff are friendly and the host is very pleasant.  Overall a great place not to far away for a weekend away or longer if you want to. 10 out of 10.

No fishing

The site was very good but with a lack of goods in the shop. I was under the impression fishing was available near by with tickets available from the site shop, this was not the case and it wasnt until the last evening i found out that fishing was availble in the stream on site. The whole week was an enjoyable experience and i would recommend the site to all
