Highland Tour July 2015

Great site this one !! Warmly met by the staff & guided to our pitch by the warden who filled us in on the do's & don't'so etc we were pitched 1 row back from the beach front, fantastic view of the islands & the bay. Toilet block we were closest to was very clean & well maintained, with electronic showers all included no extra coin meters ! There was also an on site kids playground as well as the great beach for the kids, well stocked shop but no ice for my whisky !!!!,! Lol All in all would come back here again, it's only 10 mins in the car to Oban or 45 mins to Fort William one slight niggle was electric it's only a 10 amp site so you need to remember to switch things on & off to avoid calling out the warden but this is well documented in your more than ample arrival pack

mixed feelings

We stayed for two weeks at the start of july, after a 10 hr drive we were warmly met by the staff, who were extremly helpful and efficient.we were quickly shown our pitch, which we booked in January.we had amazing views.we set up between showers but we've done the highlands many times and know what to expect with the weather.during the fortnight we drove all around, paying two visits to mull via the corran ferry and Lochaline, Iona, fort william, Campbelltown, and down to the mull of kintyre etc etc, so we covered quite a distance, the site is perfectly placed to allow you to do this. However ther were one or two flies in the ointment, largly due to lack of parental control, ie chidren riding bikes between our car and caravan! and on three occasions on fine evenings still careering round making too much noise after 10.30 at night,we are not kill joys, but seriously we are on holiday too,and appreciate a bit of quiet after 10pm.Usually this has never been a problem we've experienced before on club sites. The shower block nearest us although cleaned regulary needed updating urgently in the ladies section, and please bring back mop and disinfectant, the scraper is inadequate and unhygienic. On the whole we had a good holiday, and would consider staying here again.

Stunning view but mixed feelings

Beautiful site with stunning views. Good facilities. However, on arrival (unlike all other CC sites I have visited, where they have arrival & departure lanes to make it clear where to pull up) you are to pull into car park area past reception, there is a sign on the passenger side of the car (if UK driver) telling you to do so.  However, on my arrival, people leaving the shop/reception area were in front of sign so I didn't see it & pulled up at reception.  Just about to get out the car when a woman came running out & rather abruptly told me to move to the car park.  Having just towed the caravan myself for the first time without my husband, I was taken aback but moved to the (full) car park, where I was very aware I was now blocking anyone wishing to leave, but nowhere else to pull up, so I went to check in.  After a bit of faffing around they got me booked in & the 2 ladies behind the counter then re-iterated not to park on forecourt in front of reception & use car park area (which I totally understand the reason why, but currently it is not clearly laid out but would easily be solved by painting clear arrival/departure lanes), but their manner was not warm or friendly, I felt like I was being told off by a teacher! I tried to make friendly conversation but made no difference, in comparison to next customer to enter who was treated in a friendly manner (maybe as she was in the same age bracket as them that she was treated warmly...who knows).  I was told to go & wait for the warden who would escort me to my plot, as no-one is allowed to enter themselves. The warden came & took me to my plot, he was so nice & friendly, telling me where the toilet blocks were (recommending newly refurbished ones which were further away but worth it), play park, dog walking & advised about 10amp fuse, also wardens are available for any help/queries.  Beach is so close & lovely for water activities like canoeing & walking dogs. There are water taps & bins located regularly between plots which is great, but nearest toilet block/waste disposal/dish washing etc are a bit of a walk & people used their cars which takes away from the peacefulness & peace of mind with kids at play!  However, I just resorted to washing my dishes in the caravan & using my children's bikes for trips to the toilet, no great hardship & the views make it worth it.  The shop has great range & lady behind till was lovely.   The site is in a great location for visiting all that Oban & surrounding area has to offer.   Overall a lovely site, mostly nice staff & now I know the arrival procedure I wouldn't have same issues again, however think it is worth painting in arrival lanes as it just makes it self explanatory to new guests. But first impressions do count, so first point needs to be warm & welcoming to EVERY guest. It's not what you say, it's how you say it, manners cost nothing. It's the only thing that put me off for possible future visits.

Good stopover for the Mull ferry

We were here as a stopover for the Mull ferry.  It was torrential rain when we arrived and we appreciated being escorted directly to our pitch by the helpful and informative warden.   When the rain finally stopped we enjoyed the views over the bay - stunning and the walks along the beach alongside Oban Airport.  There's a decent shop on site which the teenagers visited to stock up on essential sweets and drinks.  All public areas were clean and tidy.

Great site for visiting Oban

This site has a spectacular location.  The wardens were very helpful in locating a pitch close to the wash block to help my husband as discussed when booking.  Sadly, during our visit the showers in the closest block were out of action.   The site is large and you could have a considerable walk to the facilities. An excellent site shop stocks all you need for your visit. Bus to Oban from outside the site £3.50 return.

Our final CC site stop in Scotland

This affiliated site was simply breathtaking. On arrival everyone was so friendly and helpful and the escorted service to your pre allocated pitch works so well. The advantages of this outweigh any disadvantages and I think the CC should adopt this approach more widely especially at busy times. Site facilities excellent. The views from the site have to be seen to be believed - even the rain didn't spoil it. The bus stop is outside the site and there is a good service into Oban. We had saved the best site in Scotland till the last.

Sunset Haven

What a lovely site,  Beautiful position overlooking the sea to the Isle of Mull & Sunsets to die for.  Friendly wardens & plenty of tidy service points.  TV reception excellent. The entrance to the site can be missed quite easily if approaching from the north because of the close proximity of a bend. Lots of dog owners who I must say kept the site clean.  Wish I'd taken my fishing tackle & a canoe as everyone seemed to have one.  Will definitely be back.

I asked for a quite place if possible and we were lucky enough to be placed about 1 step off the beach!!!! Perfect, beautiful place. Would definitely go again. The site was clean, tidy and well maintained, the staff were lovely and friendly with a well stocked shop and a mine of local information. A great place!!
