Nice plaice - shame about the fish

This is a lovely site that we have visited each year since we first discovered it.  It is clean and well set out, with the caravans given plenty of space amongst lots of greenery - a real place for peaceful enjoyment. The one thing we have found to criticise is, sadly, the Fish and Chip van which visits each week.  The first time we tried them, the fish was stale and the chips were soggy.  We had had an exhausting day, it was raining and quite frankly we didn't have the energy to complain, though when we mentioned it to the site manager the following day she said that we were just very unlucky and that the standard was normally excellent - so we tried them again this year, and yes - the fish was not fresh (though not as bad as the first time, when even the dog wouldn't eat it) and the chips were again soggy. We'll stick to a long drive to Port Patrick when we want fish and chips in future (and Port Patrick is also cheaper.)

Peaceful and tranquil

Arrived Tuesday 11th August and left Tuesday 1st September 2015. Our fourth visit, not our last. Wonderful informal site, well run and very welcoming. Wonderful walks; easy access to RSPB site in Drummore and also Port Patrick. We are now staying (2-weeks) at North Ledaig CC Site (Oban). Excellent dark nights (star watchers) and different birds too. Stranraer has excellent ferry to Ireland for day trips too. The Warden dealt with some vandalism discreetly and firmly (toilet damage)!

Tranquillity itself

This site is one of the quietest places we have ever visited, even though there were many campers staying there. The facilities are spotlessly clean and well maintained. The site is visited by a fish and chip van, a fresh fish van and a bakers van! The small but well stocked reception shop has the essentials to hand, fresh milk etc, and all the places to explore round about the area are enough to keep a family busy for ages. I even took a dip in the sea! We'll be going again ..........and again!

Escape to New England

When you are ready to escape from the hectic hubbub of every day life, or fancy a change from close-proximity camping, try New England Bay. We arrived - not to trek, swim or bowl, but simply to chill out, and walk the long beaches. Our pitch was so close to the sea that we carried table, chairs, bottle of wine and supper to the beach to re-create a PS Kroyer 'Skagen' beach scene. New England provides a great retreat, with some delightful trips nearby - especially to the lighthouse down at the Mull of Galloway. If you have the time - take the time and give New England Bay a leisurely visit.

Amazing

Fantastic site!! Big pitches, lots of sections which offer privacy and a secluded feel, we parked behind the sand dunes overlooking the sea with direct access to the beach which is a combination of sandy and rock pools.. Often we walked hand in hand all alone on our own private beach!! Staff where all friendly, helpful and welcoming. By far the best Caravan Club site we have visited and all the others have been good. Toilets and facilities were spotless and well presented. Can't wait to return. Thank you for an amazing stay.

Lovely site

Enjoyed a very peaceful couple of nights here. We are caravanners and possibly would have been a bit restricted had we not had the car at our disposal! Approach roads can be a bit bumpy, but well worth the trip. Facilities are excellent and toilet block very clean. We will definitely be re-visiting.

Rabbits everywhere.

We had a very enjoyable couple of days at this site. As we are in the 'older' age group the very helpful wardens suggested where the quiet pitches with a view were. We had a nice pitch not far from the entrance and nearby excellent toilet block. Good walking from the site and our dogs loved watching the rabbits from the window. There appear to be more rabbits than people on this site. A well set out site for its size with lots of sub-areas.

Lovely Site

We have just spent a week at this site and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Although the site is very large the pitches are very well spaced out and varied.  We were sheltered in the gorse bushes and couldn't see another van! The wardens were very friendly and helpful.  There were great walks along the beach and many lovely places to visit.  It was our first visit to Dumfries and Galloway and couldn't believe how beautiful it was.  We did intend to move on to the Lakes but changed our mind and moved to the Garlieston Site - 40 miles away - another hidden gem. We will be back.

Stunning Location.

Beautifully situated site with stunning views.Large spacious pitches with lots of little sheltered enclaves.Friendly helpful wardens. Would be struggling with the facilities if the site was full.
