New Year festivities 2015/16

This will be our 4th or 5th New Year at Moreton in Marsh site and the Wardens never fail to pull an enjoyable New Years Event out of the bag. This year there was food and mulled wine a' plenty! Its a great chance to get together with staff and other caravanners for a chat about other sites they have visited/worked on. Our thanks for all their hard work. There is always a great welcome here and a friendly feel to the site. Despite heavy rain and muddy/wet conditions it was enjoyable yet again.

First time visit

This was our first visit and my wife and I were very impressed. We have an RV and the places that can accommodate us are few but we have found more Caravan Club sites willing and keen to make room for us. The staff we met were welcoming and extremely helpful and we echo all the positive comments from earlier reviews. During our stay an inconsiderate motor caravan owner complained at Reception that they had damaged their unit on the service point without reporting that they had in fact ripped out both drinking water and waste water supplies. This caused considerable expense to the site and inconvenience to those of us still resident. The staff coped with the problem as efficiently as one could hope for but members like these we could do without. Well done Moreton in Marsh staff, we wish you a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

Rest before Christmas

Ideal site for resting before the hectic rush of visitors. Site is in easy walking distance of Moreton, market day is Tuesday, which did have some small Christmas stalls. Wednesday we caught the bus form opposite the site to Stratford, being Welsh we had to pay £7.80 each for a scenic tour of the Cotswolds, through all the small villages arriving some 90 mins later, so it was good value seeing all the Christmas decorations in the villages. Though disappointed with Stratford, it has been a couple of years since we visited and then it was in the summer, so spent most of the time around the basin and theatre area. This time we walked through the town, quite depressing, a lot of tacky cheap shops and charity shops, but it was a relaxing ride back. Good restaurants in Moreton, best food was in the Black Bear, don't be put off by outside appearance, landlord very friendly, plenty of coffee shops with very tempting cakes, spoilt for choice. Being December the site was quite quiet, plenty of hot water and spotlessly clean, weather was brilliant, blue skies which is a real change from all the rain that have had recently. It was a refreshing break and now we're ready to welcome our Christmas visitors...

Stunning Cotswolds

My wife and I stayed here in the summer with another couple in their motorhome.  The site is nice and varied and well kept.  One thing both myself and my friend didn't like, was the pitches were way too shallow.  This meant that your car was parked in such a way that it was way too close to the site road for comfort.  Both myself any my friend are overprotective admittedly of our vehicles, but it made us cringe every time a new person arrived towing a caravan and it skimmed the cars!  The reason for the 3 ticks on the 'Peace & Quiet' is simply because we were pitched against the main road at first and as it's a long straight, the cars and motorbikes seemed to gun it along there which became a little annoying, even for a petrolhead like me... Thankfully we were able to move after a couple of days and the new pitches were much quieter.  The wardens I dealt with couldn't be anymore helpful, if not a little overzelous with the club rules (pacing out peoples setups was funny to start off, but soon became irritating)  Saying that, it was busy there and it is a Caravan Club site where the rules are enforced with some enthusiasm, but as most club members know, there you do get those members of staff that enjoy that part of their job.  Overall a great location and a perfectly exceptable site to stay.  Some really nice restaurants and places to visit, but use TripAdvisor for this.   Would we stay again? Yes.

Fabulous Site

Just enjoyed a 2 night stay at this site our second visit since March. A beautiful site situated on the edge of the village only 10 minutes walk. The site is very well laid out. Two very well, equipped toilet blocks, facilities excellent and spotlessly clean. Take with you your bird feeder as there is a wealth of wildlife and birds galore. Take with you 10 metres of tv cable to plug into the site receiver. Overall it is difficult to fault this site so I'm sure we will be back in the very near future. Some great pubs in the village including the very nice Queens Head, The Redesdale Hotel bar. Don't forget Tuesday is market day for all local produce. Walkers butchers in the Main Street is first rate for all products. Also there is a Co-op,,a Tesco and even a Budgens supermarket all within walking distance. Probably the best site we have stayed on.

Mixed Feelings - Sorry!!

It's been nearly six years since we last stayed at this club site and to be honest, despite it having been closed for refurbishment, not much seemed to have changed. There is no doubting that it is in an excellent location for touring the Cotswolds. There is the added bonus of being able to walk into Moreton, especially on market day (Tuesday). There is also plenty of walking from the site which means that the car can be abandoned for a few days. A great dog walk but very muddy - be prepared to use wellies if it's a facility you require. Why mixed feelings? Well the size of the pitches are my main grumble. Being long and narrow, it means that if you want to put up an awning, you have no choice but to park your car at right angles across the front of the caravan. If you have a long outfit/twin axle, many of the pitches are just not deep enough and we ended up partially on the grass in order for our car not be jutting out into the service road. The weather was pretty grim during our stay and like the previous reviewer, the aqua rolls were on the grass which was extremely muddy. I would imagine that when the site is full, pitching could be quite interesting if you don't have a motor mover! Additionally, the west toilet block was closed (which I understand to a degree) so if you wanted to use the showers etc., you either had to pitch near the other toilet block (which was quite busy) or face a long cold walk! All in all, if we come back this way again, I think we will go to Broadway (if only for the pitch size). Sorry.

The Perfect Getaway

Although a relatively short distance from home this site was a welcome break from a fairly tortuous bout of DIY. The weather was on the wild side but did not prevent us from exploring an area unfamiliar. The site was a haven of peace and quiet, the wardens were helpful and kept the site in a clean and tidy state. We will  return to MIM with pleasure. Great for exploring the south midlands and welsh borders.

Just one fly in the ointment

Lovely site, this is our 4th visit. Please can we have a gated access to the public footpath which runs adjacent to the site. This would save the extra 1/2 mile required to walk into town and then back along the footpath to pass the site on the way to the garden centre at Batsford.
