Leaf collection on a Sunday morning

I have to admit we are not really fans of club sites, preferring 5cls. We don't ever use communal facilities as we have a modern caravan and don't mind fetching water, so I can't really comment on the cleanliness of the toilet block. So anyway we decided a weekend away and didn't mind paying twice as much for half of the space compared to 5cl as the location to Moreton is walkable and we could visit the town for a wander and lunch. Welcome by the wardens was as usual cordial and pleasant. Due to our work we cannot arrive until late Saturday afternoon when most pitches are gone. only about five left and only one not right by the road so we decided to take that. Impossible to reverse our large twin axle on to the pitch (at the end of a cul de sac) due to the annoying habit of the club in planting trees everywhere. I wasn't going to give up so jack-knifed the caravan with an inch to spare between my car and a tree and nearly got the van straight but right on the peg so that would do, and it was a pleasantly placed pitch but inaccessible for those of us who still reverse caravans. Trees also meant no satellite signal so had to use cable booster. Pitches are small so they tell you to park in front of the unit. I HATE looking out onto my car and think that it is not acceptable for the club to do this. As we did not have an awning we managed to park at the side so all was well....until Sunday morning when the noisiest leaf collector in the Cotswolds began sucking up leaves with deafening effect all over the site. We had a fabulous lunch on Sunday and a pleasant walk with our dogs but I think next time we will stay up the road at the 5cl with room to breath and no need for ear defenders. The site is very popular so I don't think we will be missed.

Nice but machinery noisy at times.

Stayed 4 nights from 2nd November. Made very welcome by lady in Reception. We were able to take our pick of where we set up our caravan which was very good. We had a few problems with our gas bottle which Reception staff helped with and resolved the issues. Lovely facilities which were warm and very clean and no problem when using. Very central location for visiting the surrounding areas. Do try ASK the Italian restaurant in Moreton in Marsh where you will get a discount for being a member of C & MH Club. Our only moan is that they seemed to be cutting the grass and blowing the leaves constantly during our stay which at times really was very noisy and did at times spoil the lovely site, apart from this we will be back as a very good site and location.

Another good Weekend

As regulars to Moreton, we know what to expect and the friendly welcome we will receive. Brilliant wardens through the summer period. Facilities and grounds always maintained. Recommend this site to all.

Stop over

We stayed on this site meandering home after a two week holiday for two nights. A lovely clean site and very helpful and friendly wardens. The town of Morton in marsh is only a five minute walk away with lots of places to eat and drink. If eating out at night and you walk into town take a torch as it is Guate dark on the way back

On the Slippery Slope

We have been to Moreton many times over the years but now it badly needs updating something the hardworking Wardens cannot do by themselves. The whole site needs a complete overhaul by the Caravan Club of the groundworks - the roads, all weather pitches as well as the trees and shrubs. The all weather pitches are lacking gravel (ours was flooded), have no edges to them, the roads are far too narrow for the size of Vans and Motorhomes now with far too many having to drive over the grass just to access a pitch. A heavy motorhome can cause a lot of damage to the grass a real headache for the Wardens. The toilet block is kept very clean and has been updated at some point. Such a shame this site has gone downhill but it has the advantage or good wardens, clean toilet block and a five minute walk into Moreton with access to lots of pubs and plenty of shopping. So don't be put off. Our Caravan & Motorhome Club needs put some money into sorting out the groundworks please.

Lovely Cotswolds

This is a lovely campsite in a great location. 5 mins walk from Moreton in Marsh where there are numerous cafes and pubs (there's also an Ask Italian restaurant). Several of the cafes are dog friendly. There is also a Fish and chip van and mobile pizza van that visits the site each week. We took the advice from a previous review and visited the Cotswolds Water Park (35-40 mins drive) for a lovely walk with the dog and a meal at the pub afterwards. Go to the Gateway Centre and get a map for £1 which gives 6 walks of varying lengths. At this time of year, wellies recommended. Would also recommend visits to local towns/villages of Broadway and Bourton on the Water - beautiful!!! Will definitely return to this area.

Definitely recommend for all age groups!

Great location, short walk into Moreton in Marsh town. Clean shower/toilet facilities on site. Really helpful and friendly staff. Excellent October half term break here - close to Cotswold Wildlife park and great walks around Broadway Tower.
