Arrived 8th of December for two nights then on to Cirencester for two nights, but it snowed early Sunday morning .Cirencester wardens rang us to say they were snowed in and advised us not to go,so we booked two more nights at Moreton. The wardens at Moreton were excellent and did all they could to help people who needed it.A lovely stay on a lovely site.Well done CC Staff.
7 Night stay.
Arrived a couple of days after snowfall, which had turned to thick ice in low temperatures.
Fair play to Site Hosts, we had a phone call from them on the morning we were due to arrive to let us know that road conditions on site were “treacherous”.
Well, we were already on our way and it was time to rely on our Winter Tyres.
It was indeed treacherous on site...winter tyres did the job though!
First time in a few years of CMC holidaying that every guest has obeyed the 5 mph speed limit...curious that!
Site is in a great location, easy, flat walk into Town, we also noticed a bus stop right outside site and the train station in town from where you can get to Worcester and Oxford in under an hour...both great days out. We enjoyed travelling around to see lots of beautiful Cotswold Towns and villages, a couple of our favourites, Burford, (try The Angel Pub for a great lunch by a cosy log burner and warm hospitality) and Chipping Campden with its lovely honey coloured stone buildings.....so English.
Only one thing spoiled our stay, and for the record, was completely out of the control of CMC.
The complete ignorance of a guest who decided to clean his toilet out at the fresh water point completely floored us...by the time it registered with us what he was actually doing, and I’d parked the car up, he was gone...just as well I suppose!
A quick call to Reception...they were obviously furious - and within minutes the whole affected area was being sanitised by one of our wonderful Site Hosts, thankyou, you are all a real credit to our Club.
Pitching tip, we noticed a bit of road noise, so choose pitch carefully, there are plenty well away from the main road.
We stayed here for three weeks on our latest visit. The wardens are all friendly and helpful and work hard to keep the site clean and welcoming.
The site is central for all the Cotswold area and very handy for the town with its many restaurants.
We stayed here for my 50th birthday celebrations. We have been here many times before and we are never disappointed by what this site has to offer. A great choice of independent shops, restaurants and pubs in town, all an easy walk along the footpath by the side of the road. Easy access from the A44 and the site, whilst being very large, is laid out in such a way that it feels much smaller and more intimate than it is. Plenty of Cotswold attractions are an easy drive away.
We were snowed in on the Sunday and had to stay an extra night: a bonus end to a great weekend away. Great camaraderie from other campers when people were trying to leave and getting stuck, and the wardens did an absolutely top job in almost unprecedented and difficult conditions. Will definitely be coming back.
This site is ideal for us to take short breaks as it is not too far to travel, we were here for 3-nights. The site is easily accessible if travelling from Evesham, Stowe or Stratford; no narrow windy lanes. The on site facililities are good and the site is well maintained. Plenty of places to visit around and about if driving but also a few circular walks from the site. We chose to walk to Blockley for lunch, skirting around the edge of Batsford Arboretum and return a different route. An enjoyable walk on a very cold and frosty day.
Next day was an easy drive to Stow in the Wold. The town has limited parking and narrow streets so we suggest if you visit that you use the free town carpark alongside the out of town Tesco store; just a short walk from the town centre. Moreton in Marsh is an easy level stroll from the site, either for shopping or an evening meal or just a drink. Several choices are available. Having visited several times previously we will be back.
We have stayed here on this site before in the summer months and on the newer part of the site , this time we wanted an Autumn break to catch up with family who also have a caravan . We arrived mid week and were told only one toilet block open in older part of site for showers so stayed in this part, due to recent rain it was very muddy and pitches covered in leaves due to the leaf blowers being out of action, warden was very helpful but site did look very messy. The pitches are tight on this site if you choose to take an awning and you end up parking in front of your van, however that said, shower blocks were spotless and toasty warm. We made the most of catching up with family and ventured into Oxford on the train which is only 15 min walk from site and really easy to do, return prices are good and even better if 4 of you travel as a group. Oxford day out thoroughly recommended. We also visited the Moreton Christmas market and the many independent shops, there are many great places to eat but you must try the fish and chip shop in the main Street, we didn't use the car at all during our stay and found lots to do within walking distance, getting away out of the summer season has many advantages and we will be doing this site again next year.
This is a lovely site for a few days break, with just a short walk into the town of Moreton-in -Marsh where you can find everything you might need. While we where there the Christmas market was on. The atmosphere was lovely, very festive, and everyone was friendly and happy. Because the town was so busy it was very good to be able to take advantage of the mobile fish and chip van at the site, most welcome. We will definitely be back next year.
Somewhat disappointed with internet performance as site claims gold status. Varied from OK thru barely functioning to unable to load anything. Site was only half full so should not be as a result of unserviceable demand.
Was at Sea Croft Cromer in September also a gold site for internet where it was if anything worse than Moreton. Site was however 90%+ full.
These issues apart site is lovely but I would want to be away from the road contiguous with the site as I was aware of traffic noise in this area.
This is a lovely site, perfectly sited for a weekend away. Loads of walking in the vicinity, a short walk inot the local town which has a full range of pubs/mini markets and shops to browse. The road through the town to the site can get very congested due to traffic parking on the street (something for the local council to fix!) but beyond that, this site is perfect.
This site is beautiful, clean, walking distance from town. Plenty of pubs, shops and restaurants. Lovely walks and cycle routes. Gorgeous dog walking field. Shower block is very clean and we'll maintained.
