We have just spent 5 nights at the site and had a great time. The staff were wonderful, very friendly, helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. The toilet block was very clean and I never had to wait for a shower even though the site was full at the week end.
There had been a lot of rain in the days prior to our arrival so the site was muddy and some vehicles had driven over the grass in places churning up the grass, some of this was unavoidable with the layout of the site. The roads around Moreton were also very muddy so it looked as if we had been rallying in the van - my point being that it was not the wardens fault that there was mud around despite some members believing that they are responsible for creating the mud!
For families there is a large area set aside for children to play and one of my favourite things was that some children (supervised by an adult) were having great fun playing in the muddy ditch and the warden just smiled and left them to enjoy themselves.
I am dismayed at reading some of the reviews and I do not understand some peoples' expectations because the bottom line is this is a "campsite" and the Caravan and Motorhome Club have to cater for a cross section of society it is not a private members club.
We have stayed at many Club sites over the years and ALL the wardens have always been polite, friendly, helpful and patient even in the face of adversity and a very rude Club member.
In conclusion so what if it is muddy, if someone is using the tap to wash their dog/bike/wellies either wait or go to another one (some sites do have dog/bike wash) you are on holiday and if minor inconveniences are going to be such a problem stay at home. The wardens work very hard, the are not well paid and they have to tolerate some very opinionated people. "Live and let live" and say a bit thank you to the wardens (even if they are not having the best of days) because without them there would not be any Club sites.
Just back from 3 nights at Moreton in Marsh. Not our first visit, but it's been 3 or 4 years since the last and it's still as good as ever. Perfect weather, site very busy, think it must still have been half term in some areas as there were quite a few children enjoying the fresh air. Plenty of dogs around as well and not a poo in sight, either on site or in the large enclosed dog field (which is more than can be said for the park at the far end of the high street,) The site was full but the facilities were never over stretched and always kept spotlessly clean by the hard working warden team who were also busy out and about maintaining the site. Pizza van and fish & chip van both visit twice a week. Great walks either direct from the site or a short drive away. A little road noise on the left hand half of the site where we were, but nothing too intrusive. An ideal spot for a short break.
This is a great site ,with a great location ,very clean and well kept ,The wardens are excepionaly friendly and helpful.
The site is well set out not regimented like a lot of other club sites , 500yds fron the town with shops ,pubs and restaraunts make it a great stay over.
Just returned from a 4 night half term stay, to site it just on the outskirts of Moreton In Marsh and is easy to find.Â
On arrival we were greeted with a friendly welcome and given the info needed. The site was easy to navigate around and we soon found a suitable pitch. The hard standing pitches just narrow enough for a caravan and awning with a little room left to walk around. It would be nice if the hard standing was wider so we don't have to squeeze our car in front of the unit.Â
Facilities were great, there are plenty of toilets and showers which was looked after to the usual, excellent Caravan Club standard.Â
Moreton in Marsh is a short walk away, which has lots of shops to keep you stocked up.
First time visit to Moreton in Marsh site. We had only just finished setting up on our pitch when I noticed a muddy stream of water meandering its way onto our pitch from the water point across the roadway. I then watched for over half an hour as a lady washed two large dogs, two pedal cycles and half a dozen pairs of muddy boots, she has obviously done this before and quite used to doing this as she brought her own hose and marigold gloves to undertake this mammoth task. She connected her own hose to the drinking water tap and proceeded to wash all her muddy items to the detriment of other campers trying to fill their aqua rolls and filling my pitch with a stream of muddy water.
I spoke to a warden in the toilet block nearby and asked if she had seen what was taking place, she stated that she had watched her for several minutes also, I asked if this was normal procedure and allowed to take place on a club site. I was extremely surprised by her lack of action or even challenging the person concerned, bearing in mind the inconvenience that this persons actions was causing to other members. I will contact the office being her only response, which I found totally unacceptable.
My wife and I visited the reception later that evening to clarify the situation and ask if the person concerned had been spoken to regarding her actions. Basically told that it was acceptable for someone to wash all their muddy items from the drinking water tap, to flood other members pitches and stop members using the tap for what it was designed for, ie filling their respective water containers.
I had travelled nearly 150 miles to meet up with our friends who are fellow members to have my pitch filled with muddy water by a very inconsiderate camper and an extreme lack of action by a Caravan Club warden. This lack of action ruined our weekend. Come on Caravan Club sort this out as its lowering the standard of our club sites and maybe some training for the wardens concerned would not go amiss.
We visited this site in early February - we were surprised that the site was so busy on a cold February weekend. We had little choice of pitch but were told we could move when it emptied out on Sunday. The first pitch was fine but close to the road so a bit noisy. The second pitch was much further from the road and a good location. The facilities were all clean and plenty of hot water. The only criticism would be that the pitch was actually quite small, although it was supposed to be a pitch with awning we would not be able to put our awning up, it would go onto the grass. Site ideally located for walking into the town with a good selection of cafes and pubs for eating, would recommend the Black Bear, good food and warm welcome. We have a motorhome so,walked to Batsford Arboretum which was well worth the visit, about am1.7 mile walk. Buses from from the town so you could get further afield if need be. We had a super 4 days here.
Travelling down to Wales to be with the Grandkids for half term we decided, very last minute, to stop overnight half way. We telephoned Broadway first (nearer M5) they were full but they informed us that a place had just appeared at Moreton. We rang Moreton and obtained the pitch.
On arrival the reception staff were very helpful. The pitch available was excellant, near the toilet block, away from the road and spacious. The site was full but we didn't hear a thing all evening.
Walked into Moreton for a couple of beers at the Black Bull and then back for a bite to eat before retiring. We felt completely relaxed for our onward trip the next day and will visit this site again.
We have just had a great weekend at Moreton with some friends. we enjoyed the crazy golf and the dog walk. The site facilities were clean and warm with lots of hot water in the showers. the Location is great with just a short walk into Moreton with its many cafes and pubs.
My only criticism is that the pitches are a bit small. Caravan over to one side, awning on the other and car at the front. This seemed to make it difficult for outfits coming and going, very difficult to pass. Also the verges got very muddy with cars driving all over them. However we are back in May so can't be all bad
We've used this site lots of times and have seen it through all the refurbishments. Facilities are excellent, warm and plentiful. Wardens are lovely, very friendly and approachable. We stayed on the 'older side' of the site and the only problem was the pitches. We can understand grass verges get a little untidy at this time of year but really, the pitches are in need of a revamp, maybe some new stone? Otherwise always been happy and will be back.
We bought a caravan in January, totally unplanned, we stopped here for a night on the way home as we could not get in to the storage facility till next day.
What a lovely site, we were very impressed as we had not had a caravan for about 18 years. Facilities were very clean and nice and warm. Wardens were very friendly and helpful.
Will certainly come again
