Peaceful and beautifully kept

Spent a week here recently. Love this site because it has a timeless feel. Wardens work tirelessly to keep it nice. The site has a super dog walking field and is a major tick for us. Dogs are genuinely welcome. Wifi worked well. TV reception good event during Storm Evert . We would have extended our stay an extra 5 days but sadly one night, the saturday, was fully booked. I hope there was no no-shows. The site is perfect, but the access can't be ignored. Not the fault of the club. However South Hams and Devon CC must bear responsibility for the terrible roads. We left the site at 6AM to try and avoid on-coming vehicles. Thankfully we had a clear run. We had seen a double decker bus, a car transporter and various vans and lorries attempting the couple of miles from California Cross and the cross roads towards the A38. The road is reasonably busy and takes traffic to Bigbury and the coast. It needs improvement. We will stay again, probably arriving late and leaving early.

A Gem in South Devon

Immaculate site with Fabulous hosts - Debbie, Richard and Bailey are the best we have met. Very relaxing & peaceful site in a stunning location, with great walks from the site, and many fantastic days out within easy reach in the motorhome. Dog exercise area / meadow area are kept in top condition. As mentioned by many reviewers, the access lane is narrow but manageable, requiring extra care at busy times due to the number of lorries using the lane. We would really recommend this site, which is conveniently located to explore the beauty of South Devon.

Excellent Site With A Downside

This is a very pleasant site. Definitely a five out of five. Debbie and Richard are excellent hosts. The site is kept in very good order. Its also good value compared to other Club sites we have looked at. Sadly the downside is the access road. Reading all the reviews I was fully aware of the narrow road leading to the site. It didn't put me off, it's just something you deal with when towing a caravan. Especially when touring in the west country. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy, but we got through to the site with no real issues. Unfortunately the next day we got caught up in a real mess. Two lorries going one way met up with another lorry going the other. Unfortunately they came face to face on a very narrow bend. It was gridlock. Each lorry had about 20 or so cars behind them. It took forever to sort out, with many cars trying to do three point turns. Thankfully I did not have the van on the back. Throughout the course of the week I was very surprised how many cars and lorries use that road. I found driving around the whole area to be tedious. Lovely site, but probably wouldn't return because of that.

Brilliant peaceful

This is the 2nd time we stayed at modbury. Debbie and her husband are lovely and made us feel very welcome. The site is immaculate with well kept grounds and facilities. There’s a lovely play area for children though we are past that stage. The dog field is excellent very safe with lovely short grass. The road leading to the site from any direction is quite narrow and needs to be navigated with care. Nice places to visit locally and we would recommend staying here.

Modbury Caravan Club Site

Just returned from a recent visit to Modbury. Narrow approach lanes can be tricky where they narrow to single vehicle width. The site is really great with close access to fabulous coastline. The two wardens are excellent, we dealt mainly with Debbie, my wife and I both agree that she's possibly the most engaging and helpful warden we have ever dealt with. Only minus point was the play area being closed which would have been great for our grandchildren.

Lovely for a quiet getaway

Had 3 lovely peaceful weeks at Modbury and loved every minute. Debbie and Richard are just the perfect wardens always ready to help out or stop by for an chat on the way back from Bailey’s evening walk. Spotlessly clean facilities are a little dated but very adequate. Lots of interesting places within a half hour drive. What not to like?

One of the Best

This was our second visit to Modbury. Everything here is so well looked after; the wardens cannot do enough for their guests. The access road can be entertaining, but well worth the effort. We had a most enjoyable, relaxing stay, hosted by very happy, caring and hard working wardens. If there is a scheme to reward effort, they should be at the top of the list. Debbie and Richard are making this site so special.

Easy and spacious

Happy to recommend this site as it is very accessible, well organised and an open feel. Very easy for dog owners with a huge exercise field and 2 walks from the site, one to the California Inn, only just over a mile away, which serves good food. Located in the midst of the South Hams it is perfect for exploring the local area, the coast, countryside, villages and the city of Plymouth.

Modbury Adventures

We have just returned from another fabulous stay at the Modbury Site. Been visiting for many years and this site has everything you can wish for, quiet, relaxation and very good facilities. We had a glorious week and was there over the busy Spring Bank Holiday Weekend and the site was full. even when full, you were still able to relax and look at the splendid Devon landscape, also struck lucky with the weather as there was a mini heat wave which just made things perfect. Special mention must go out to the wardens, Debbie and Richard, they were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. They took great pride in looking and maintaining the site to very high standards and the toilet and shower blocks were kept spotless, it was a pleasure to meet them. They certainly took pride in their work. For anyone visiting for the first time, there is about 5 miles of lanes from the A38 with some narrow parts in places but please don’t let this put you off, with careful driving, shouldn’t cause you any problems. Would be a shame not to go and miss this beautiful site. We will be returning again later on in the summer.
