Really enjoyed our stay

We have just come back from spending 8 wonderful days at this site. The site managers were wonderful and I can’t praise them enough. They were friendly and interactive. It is the first site that I have stayed on where they actually walk around the site and talk to people. It was really wonderful to see. The only disappointing part of the site is the facilities. There is a very small block for the size of the site. On both sides there are only 4 showers. There are about 8 toilets and 8 sinks. It means that there is always a wait. The blocks are also very outdated and need to be refurbished. While they were really clean that didn’t make up for the age and lack of facilities. The road getting to the site is really narrow but that is the same for all the sites in the area and Devon is known for the roads. All in all we had a lovely time and will definitely be going back.

Quiet site

Firstly, the road in is narrow especially if you are not used to narrow lanes, but don't let this put you off, I have seen worse! The site is well maintained by the wardens, Debbie and Richard who both work tirelessly to keep the site nice. They are both extremely helpful and everything is done with a smile! Superb field for the dogs and the grass is kept short which is lovely. With the wifi being just bronze, a lot of the time is unusable as it takes so long to connect. We didn't use the toilet block, but I did take a peek and although spotlessly clean could do with upgrading. This is a lovely quiet well cared for site. I am amazed how just two wardens manage to do all the work, but they certainly do!!

Summer fortnight

Lovely 2 weeks at Modbury. Some great weather and it is close to some lovely beaches. Bigbury-on-Sea is a particular favourite. The journey into site when towing is a bit of a tight squeeze for a couple of miles when you leave the main road. The wardens were friendly and helpful. Toilet block is a little outdated but still spotlessly clean. There are some lovely walks from site . We have visited before and will visit again.

Good rural site set in natural Devonshire countryside.

Good site with clean facilities, possibly overstretched in peak season. Access road which is used by agricultural vehicles and trailers, HGV’s and commercial vans was narrow and tortuous. It was a nightmare at times. Left site at 6:00am to avoid the risk of damaging our medium sized caravan. It proved to be a prudent option.

Disappointing

After the stress of navigating the ridiculously tricky road leading up to the site, I was also disappointed by the poor standard of the toilet and shower facilities. To say they are below the standard of club facilities would be an understatement. They are desperately in need of updating and didn’t even seem to be as clean as other sites. Disappointed to say that we will not be using this site again.

lovely site

Lovely clean site with a nice green area for the kids to play in. Pity about the playpark being closed as it looks to be a nice set up.

Great Site - shame we had to go back to work!

We had nearly two weeks at the site at the beginning of July. We would have stayed longer but unfortunately we had to get back to work. Debbie and Richard are a credit to the club - welcoming and helpful and work so hard to keep the site looking great. Facilities spotless and grounds very well maintained. As far as the access is concerned - yes its a little 'tight' in places getting to it but there were some really big outfits there so it really is a case of take it steady. The location is great - very quiet site but with easy access to so much more - recommend walks on Dartmoor and we completed a few more sections of the South West Coast Path. Some yummy food too - Valley View Cafe for lunch and a late lunch at the School House - Mothecombe. So much more to do so we will be back soon. Thank you Debbie and Richard for all your efforts.

A great week

A fantastic site, clean facilities and extremely well kept grounds and the wardens are both very helpful, approachable and friendly. The only negative I could find with our weeks stay was the lane but it isn't nearly as back as some of the horror stories and wasn't enough to ruin such a great site for us. There's about 3 miles of B-road but only about 1/2 a mile of that is narrow with passing places. We were leaving to travel onto another site which, if we hadn't paid a deposit on, we would have stayed at modbury for another week. One of the best club sites we've stayed at.

Peaceful and beautifully kept

Spent a week here recently. Love this site because it has a timeless feel. Wardens work tirelessly to keep it nice. The site has a super dog walking field and is a major tick for us. Dogs are genuinely welcome. Wifi worked well. TV reception good event during Storm Evert . We would have extended our stay an extra 5 days but sadly one night, the saturday, was fully booked. I hope there was no no-shows. The site is perfect, but the access can't be ignored. Not the fault of the club. However South Hams and Devon CC must bear responsibility for the terrible roads. We left the site at 6AM to try and avoid on-coming vehicles. Thankfully we had a clear run. We had seen a double decker bus, a car transporter and various vans and lorries attempting the couple of miles from California Cross and the cross roads towards the A38. The road is reasonably busy and takes traffic to Bigbury and the coast. It needs improvement. We will stay again, probably arriving late and leaving early.

A Gem in South Devon

Immaculate site with Fabulous hosts - Debbie, Richard and Bailey are the best we have met. Very relaxing & peaceful site in a stunning location, with great walks from the site, and many fantastic days out within easy reach in the motorhome. Dog exercise area / meadow area are kept in top condition. As mentioned by many reviewers, the access lane is narrow but manageable, requiring extra care at busy times due to the number of lorries using the lane. We would really recommend this site, which is conveniently located to explore the beauty of South Devon.
