Good for families

Location - excellent

The wardens who look after this small site run a tight ship ensuring the club rules are followed to the letter. That's not a veiled criticism as the facilities on site are immaculate (toilet block kept super warm now the cold has set in) and given the site is right in the middle of this lovely, small, affluent town I think it's to the wardens' credit that the locals are very so friendly and welcoming. There are cafes galore, quality gift shops, bakeries, fishmonger, butcher and an excellent Coop literally on the site's doorstep. The Abbey and it's museum are well worth the £6 entrance fee and there are lovely walks around this historic little town plus excellent bus services to nearby towns. We regretted we didn't have our bikes as the roads appeared safe and there were plenty of signs for cycle routes. All in all we enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay.
