Diasppointed

I was keen to visit Melrose again after a break of many years. What a disappointment! I can best liken it to staying in a gravelled car park. OK, the facilities were all up to the expected standard, the staff were helpful, but somehow it just didn't feel right. One redeeming feature was the number of Wi-fi hotspots, so if you had a BT account, you had free internet. There is a small, expensive Co-oP at the entrance, and a few shops in town. The Abbey, which I'm sure was once free to visit, now charges £5.50 per adult to wander round the ruins. Now, I can imagine the site being popular for rugby fans who come to watch the rugby 7's, but I was very surprized to find the site fully booked on a wet midweek in March. Rugby aside, I can't see the attraction of Melrose. Let's just say, it's not my kind of site.
