A tidy site

A tidy site run by tidy-minded wardens who are obviously very keen gardeners. The floral displays were magnificent. The site is very well situated for walking into Melrose and along the River Tweed. However, the dog walk on site is poor with a gravel track going around a grassy area which perhaps could have been used for an off-lead caper but the signs asked that dogs be kept on a lead, which we did. The nearest off lead walk is a good 10 to 15 minutes across municipal playing fields and through a park to the River Tweed - lovely when you get there. If you have a dog and are looking for a dog friendly outing, Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott is a joy. They really do welcome dogs in the grounds (not in the house, fair enough), the shop and the café on a sheltered balcony. There are also lovely walks from the house along the river Tweed.
