This was our 1st visit to this wonderful site, the scenery all round is fantastic and the site is so peaceful when a lot of the time all you can hear are the birds singing. Very friendly staff always had time for a chat. Showers were lovely and hot. We visited various places around the area, we visited The Kelpies, it was 50 miles from the site but worth the visit amazing structures. We also had a run to Aberfeldy which is a quiet place, but be very careful if you travel on that road as many people do not slow down and the road is narrow and twisting, again the scenery is also worth the drive to there. There are eateries etc in Killin itself if you wish to eat out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this site and will be visiting again in the future even for the scenery alone!
This club site is in a great location with beautiful scenery providing a stunning backdrop. Friendly and helpful wardens who made you feel very welcome after a long drive. Plenty of walking/cycling straight from the site with routes to suit all tastes and abilities. Community shop and Post Office in the village together with a Coop, chemist and numerous cafes and pubs. We were there over Easter and as one would expect, the site was busy. The pitches by the river felt tight and packed in but we were happy with our large pitch on the other side of the large expanse of grass. As someone else has previously mentioned, there is no dedicated dog walk on site. Whilst I accept that there is plenty of walking in the area, early morning and late night trips involve a walk along a 'no through' lane in front of residential properties which I'm sure they love!! (or like some - you exercise them on site). If you are away from the riverside, beware that some less thoughtful members think nothing of cutting across pitches (even when you're sitting out) to make a direct line to the toilet block.
Don’t be put off by the negative reviews. This is a lovely site in a great location for cycling, walking, more strenuous hiking, paddle boarding or kayaking with out having to drive. The site is very well kept by the friendly courteous staff. The Falls of Dochart Inn served a decent pint and good food, and there is a well stocked Co-op within a 10 minute walk of the site.
Whilst it’s no reflection on the site or the staff, CMC could do with spending some money on upgrading the dated facilities block.
Loved it and even the hill walk we managed was lovely too. Had lunch out at the bistro on the bridge in town (fab). Beer and fish & chips from hotel in evening as the chippy van was shut🤔. Loved the site and the walks around the campsite loch.
Although the site managers were great and very helpful, we would not visit here again. It was very busy and our pitch was much smaller than the usual Caravan Club pitches - we could only just squeeze our Landrover in beside the caravan and were overlooked on both sides by other people. So not much privacy. Also no Wi-Fi! No dog walk either very unusually - you had to walk along a busy road until you came to a side road. The location was excellent however and I’m sure during less busy times it would be wonderful to have a pitch overlooking the river but unfortunately the lack of pitches left (even though we’d booked months ago) meant we were beside the road and next to the bins! It really was like pitching in a car park. Such a shame, we’d been looking forward to our stay for ages. The toilet block was clean but very dated and badly in need of a makeover.
We have stayed at this site twice in the past and love its location. The facilities were quite dated when we first went and now, some years later, nothing has been done to improve them. We talked to the site staff in the past about putting in a proper path to the toilet block from the sites on the shoreside. Easy to do and not too expensive, but still left as a muddy track when it rains. Furthermore, whose idea is it we wonder to cut the grass and not collect the clippings? They get into the caravans and toilet block and make a right old mess.
It seems that the site is in such a prime position and such a money-spinner that the club doesn't need to keep the facilities up to date. This is no criticism of the staff, or cleanliness, but of the powers that be who seem to be taking advantage of members.
Second visit to this fantastic site. Peaceful site by the River Tay and Loch Tay. The wardens are friendly and helpful. As others have said the toilet/shower block could do with refurbishment, however it is kept spotlessly clean. There is plenty to do and see nearby. Pub, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance...also the very good Fish and Chip van. Lots of lovely walks and cycling routes. My husband loves the free fishing on site on the River Tay. I do think wifi on site should be free as many of the private sites are supplying free wifi and are less expensive than this site.
I use this site many times througout the season, it is always clean and tidy. The staff are always pleasant and helpfull, i have only given 4 stars for overall rating and facilities as like many of the club sites the toilet blocks need updating. However saying that they are always spotlessly clean, it wont stop me returning but what might is the club is starting to get more expensive than some independant sites.
Very spacious site with plenty of grass and space between pitches. It is quite big and there is only one amenity block, but it has plenty of toilets and showers with hot water, and pitches close to it. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with information about walks. One side of the site has a river running along it, the other has a hill behind with a road above. We did not hear any traffic. There is a children's play area, but I do not know how good it is as we do not have any children with us.
There is a lovely walk by the side of Lake Tay, which our dog thoroughly enjoyed as she could go off the lead until we came to a field of sheep. She ignored them but we put the lead back on her, obviously.
The village is very close with a choice of cafes and restaurants. There is a large waterfall at the end of the village, but we didn't walk that far.
We really liked this site, and will return at some point.
Fantastic location for walks and cycles around Glen Lochay , Glen Lyon , Ben Lawers and the Tarmachan ridge . Great food options within Killin and nearby - Killin Hotel , and The Chippie van to name just the couple that we used. Easy to launch ur kayak from the site and paddle down to Loch Tay. Visit the NTS Long House and Castle Fraser. And the new co-op in the village will have all your needs covered. All in - loved it , just as we did ~ 40 years ago.
