We stayed here for 4 nights (on what is called the balcony) - this was a secluded part of the site overlooking the lower part. The site has a lot of quirky tucked in pitches amongst the trees (this year as we've found in other sites the trees are leaking a lot of sap so made the gravel everywhere very very sticky to walk on). The young wardens were very welcoming. The shower block is dated but clean. I don't mind dated facilities if they are clean & there is hot water, unfortunately on the four days we stayed the female showers were freezing, I was told the men's showers take priority on the hot water and they've tried to get it fixed and aware of the problem. This doesn't seem good enough for a club site. I pay to stay on a site for EHU & a shower and unfortunately for £30 a night it made it very expensive EHU. TV reception varied on a daily basis, but we were more than happy to sit outside enjoying the evening sun When we were touring it was extremely hot, our days were spent finding rivers for our Labrador to swim & cool down and we found some beautiful places. We ate at the Wensleydale Heiffer, West Witton for our last evening and it is highly recommended (and dog friendly) Richmond was a nice town to visit - they offer parking discs (I did get some extra for reception to give out) you can also collect them from tourist information and if you park in designated disc parking 2 hours is free. The train is walking distance and we spent a morning relaxing travelling to Leeming Bar & back. We had lunch at the Garden Rooms at the Auction House just down the road and it was delicious We've stayed at Buxton (which is also a Quarry Site), I liked Lower Wensleydale but it just feels a little let down, the greenery between the pitches was just weeds and unkempt - which is a shame
