Best Club site we have stayed on. Great location in the heart of the village. Lovely woodland and river walks from the site. Toilets/Showers amazing. Everything clean and tidy without being OTT. Spacious pitches Helpful staff. Sadly our itinerary limited us to one night stop but we will definitely be back

First Time at Lidalia

Stayed at Lidalia Site for 8 nights June 2020. Pretty site, kept very tidy and looked very nice. Route / access to the site is very easy and the welcome from the wardens good. Upon arrival we were allocated pitch 30 owing to the site being full (backing onto houses). Best pitches are around the ponds and the opposite side of the caravan site. Paid £10 for site wifi – very slow! - After reading positive reviews we booked our first nights meal at The Grape Hotel at 6.30pm (Wed), dining room was empty and meals basic but okay, with regards to the local butchers in Newcastleton, whilst okay it only offered basic meats – no marinated Barbie foods. Nearest large supermarket is in Hawick some 21 miles away / 40 minute drive – SPAR shop in Newcastleton only small – There are lots of positives for the area, Kielder Forest Park and Lake stunning with lots of walks & cycle routes, Lockmaben 18 hole Golf Club was an excellent championship course

Excellent site - loved our stay at Lidalia

We have just spent ten nights at this fantastic site 27.08.20 - 06.09.20. What a hidden gem right in the heart of a friendly small village. The family owners and wardens were absolutely lovely, so friendly and helpful. The facilities are immaculate, pitches spacious and the whole site was beautifully landscaped and well kept. The village has everything you need, a couple of pubs, shops and a fab butchers. Loads of great walks, no need to drive anywhere. We didnt take our bikes but there are some great bike rides around the area. Very dog friendly. You must visit the butchers (we bought loads of meat home with us to freeze!) Highly recommend the Grapes - they did takeaway food which was amazing (especially the chicken stuffed with haggis - wow!) Thanks to all at Lidalia for making our holiday so memorable - we will see you again soon :)

Gem of a site

Stayed here for six nights 11-17th August, on the final leg of our Scotland tour, what a great site this is. A good location in a nice village, local shops for all the necessities with a couple of pubs all just a short walk away, and a decent walks along the river. The site itself is perfectly maintained, nice displays dotted all around site. The shower and toilet facilities are some of the best we have seen in over 30 years of touring. The wardens are very approachable, helpful and always around should you need something. Would highly recommend this site and if we are coming this way again will definitely come back.

Lovely site

We stayed here at the beginning of our tour of Scotland. It’s a lovely site, nicely landscaped with walks directly from the site. Very quiet. Just a few minutes walk into the village where the locals are very friendly. We ate at the Grapes on the first night and had a very good meal there.

Lovely site

Well-run site in a great location. Walks direct from the site. Great for dogs. Good local shops in the village (ie walking distance). Drove up to Hawick which is a friendly small town with a lovely park and museum.

Excellent......

Stayed on site end of June. Site well situated, with plenty to see and do. Good birdwatching ( Hen Harriers regularly seen on nearby Langholme Moor ). Scenery amazing. Site kept in immaculate condition by helpful and friendly site staff. Toilet blocks with individual cubicles kept spotless. Horse riding fairly close by, recommended by the site staff, and was round the forest. Village facilities good, with small Spar, excellent butchers ( opens at 06:00hrs!! ) and choice of hotels. Fuel ( petrol & diesel ) available in the village at reasonable prices. Beware the black cat who will be in your car / van given half a chance - it nearly got a lift to Kent on the day we left !! Would not hesitate to recommend the site, although may be a little quiet for those with younger members of the family

A fabulous year round site

Visited here in mid January 2019. The site is in a lovely village, with a couple of hotels, shops, and an excellent butcher. The Community has recently added fuel pumps and an electric charging point. The site has all hard standing pitches with several service points. The toilet and shower blocks are very clean and warm ( essential during the winter). The welcome is very friendly and the wardens will always go out of their way to help . The site is peaceful, with some owls at night. This is a great place for wildlife. There are Hen Harriers on Langholm Moor (only a few miles away); deer and foxes in the forests; badgers can be seen at a hide in the forest; wild goats on the Langholm Moor, and of course the delightful owls on the site. For the outdoor lovers this site has great walks in the hills and forests. The area is a Mecca for mountain biking, part of the 7 Stanes network. Road cycling also has several great routes. For star gazers it is superb, as this is in a Dark Skies area, and only a 30 minute drive to the Observatory at Kielder. Highly recommended.

Great location for exploring the Borders anytime of the year

Helpful site manager, good all weather access and facilities, including for wheelchair user. Centrally situated in the village, but very quiet and peaceful. Great range of local walks straight out of the site. All amenities available within village (including 24/7 self-service fuel station); The Grapes Hotel is especially friendly, welcomes dogs, and serves great food. We had one night of snow/ice, but the main roads are well gritted and remained passable with care, even in our rig, which has very little traction. It's such a nice village, being snowed in would be no hardship anyway! Well placed for exploring the Borders - we managed Hadrian's Wall, the Solway Coast & Kielder Forest in the three days we were there, and look forward to going back. Will take mountain bikes and canoes next time too - loads to do if you like the great outdoors.
