Worthy of a longer stay

Our stay here was the weekend after Easter on route to North Wales. Despite being very busy, the site, due to it's layout, did not give the appearance of being full. Facilities were up to the normal CC standard, even if a bit dated, like ourselves. Much has been made of the state of the road but it's no worse than the series of road humps that greet you at some sites and is fine if taken at a slow speed. After arrival we had a short walk over the aqueduct, back into England and then into Chirk via the canal tunnel. A torch is advisable as it's fairly long and there are no lights. The butchers in Chirk sells excellent bara brith. The next day we walked to Chirk Castle (National Trust). Well worth a visit and a reasonably easy 3 to 4 mile circular walk from the site. But make sure you get your tickets before you walk up to the castle, otherwise you will have to do it twice, as we did. Looking at the map several other good walks are available from the site but alas no time. We will have to visit again.
