Good start to tour of Wales.
It is some years since we first visited this site and found it as good as previously. My only gripe is the hardness of the hard standing which was so compacted it was extremely difficult to hammer pegs into. That said we enjoyed our stay walking along the canal towpath to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and visiting Chirk Castle and Erdig, both National Trust properties. There’s a good butchers in Chirk along with a very well stocked Spa supermarket, greengrocers and a couple of pubs, all within an easy walk from the rear of the site.
Can’t comment on the toilets/showers as used our own facilities throughout.
Would happily revisit but might use a grass pitch to avoid the hard labour of pegging out on the hard standings.
