Beautiful and peaceful

We have just spent eight nights here and had a lovely peaceful time. The site is spacious and you can either set up in one of the wooded dells or on the open area. You can hear plenty of birdlife and there are rabbits hopping about. The dog walk is good and we also used the extra lower field to let our younger dog have a good run around. We walked into Chirk and visited the aqueduct and viaduct area, very picturesque. We attempted to walk through the canal tunnel but as it got darker our older dog lost his way and fell in the canal. He was quickly hoisted out and we came back out. My husband went back later and walked throught the tunnel, it is best to take a torch. We travelled out to the other aqueduct near Llangollen and it is a lovely area to visit. We had an evening meal at the Hand Hotel which was very nice. You can walk in the grounds of Chirk Castle which is adjacent to the caravan site. We were also recommended to visit Ellesmere by a local man whom we met on the aqueduct, there are several meres close together and walks to be taken. Yes there is some factory noise but it is bearable and sometimes you can taste the chocolate in the air. The toilet block is dated but clean and well kept. The wardens were nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.
