An ideal location for exploring Welsh countryside and magnificent canal and rail engineering by bike or foot
This pleasant tiered site is adjacent to a small town with good facilities and access to major roads. You can easily walk to Chirk Castle (NT) and along the nearby canal and over the impressive aquaduct. Even more exciting if a train goes across the adjacent viaduct at the same time. There is also a small canal basin and tunnel. The onsite facilities block has been criticised by some as in need of an update, but in fact the current arrangement of having the showers in a separate block from the toilets etc can be an advantage, especially if you are queuing. It was great to wake and find the motorhome surrounded by baby rabbits in the morning, and the visit by the local bobbies on their mountain bikes was a reassuring gesture (I think!).
All in all a very pleasant experience.
