A Welsh Rarebit?

This site is well positioned for exploring the surrounding countryside being located adjacent to the Chirk Castle estate. The site is laid out within woodland with some pitches in shady tree areas while others occupy more open glades. The area seems to abound with wildlife with rabbits and squirrels frolicking about during daylight hours to the noisy owls at dusk and the dawn chorus from the treetops in early morning giving the place a ‘back to nature’ feel. Yes, if you listen very closely you can hear the low moans of the nearby factory but it doesn’t really detract from the natural feel of this site.  As for the facilities? Well, as others have suggested, they’re a little dated and in need of a facelift, the amenities provided in the single block although spotless seemed to be lacking in number and may prove somewhat problematic when the site is at capacity. It’s also worth noting that the hook-up points are {I believe) the old type, (plug in and twist), something I didn’t expect and got into a bit of a tizz over. Also despite TV reception being given as poor or fair, we were surprised that there wasn’t a central TV aerial point available as on other sites (we lost reception for one day during our stay).  If I were coming to the site with children, I think I and my children might be somewhat disappointed by the description of ‘play area’. One addition that would be well appreciated by those new to the area would be a detailed map showing possible walks in the local area, perhaps mounted on the wall of the ‘Information Room’?  Despite the above comments, we had a really nice two night stay at the site, the wardens are warm and friendly and only too pleased to help or just stop and chat. We were lucky as the weather was quit good and would suggest that everyone should take the opportunity of a wander through the castle grounds up to the castle for a coffee break before returning admiring the views on your way back.
