One Night Stay in Lady Margaret's Park

We only stayed here for one night in August but we found it pleasant enough. We were in the wooded Primrose area which had a spacious feel. There is a really good dog walk and our son enjoyed hanging out around the castle play area which was in a nice grassy area with picnic benches. There are lots and lots of rabbits on this site! This might be an issue for you if you have a dog that goes mental at the site of them. We would stay here again but probably for no more than a few nights.

Disappointed

Stayed here for 5 nights with our grand daughter. Very poor pitch. A hard standing which had lost much of its gravel thus in poor weather we trod a lot of mud into van. This pitch was one of many in this state. It was also under trees which have not been looked after so van and awning got very dirty. The club maintains all pitches are equal. Not here, some are very poor and some grass pitches are very very poor. Again it is typical of many club sites with the bare minimum of water points so a long way to go to complete daily chores. Also huge expanses of grass around toilet blocks but no paths across.  Entrance road is diabolical. Has a speed hump but not needed potholes do a first class job. Very congested around office and wardens don't seem to recognise this so on several occasions we had to queue because vans were blocking both in and out roadways Play area very mediocre. All in all we felt it was not value for money and will not be returning until we hear of some major improvements

Enjoyable Break

We stayed here for 3 nights in early August and can't believe some of the negative comments left. For a start, if you don't like rabbits, don't come out into the country. The wildlife was wonderful especially the Nuthatch that used to sit and call right outside our window. Look where you're going, the countryside is made up of uneven ground for various reasons. As a child we'd sit on commons, on a blanket for picnics, there would be rabbit droppings everywhere. We didn't mind, guess what, no one was either ill, or died. We chose to be in Bluebell Dell. More shady but lots of space. The Wardens, unlike a review I read before we went, were as friendly and helpful as you could wish to meet. As for the complaints about the showers. I give up! Yes, there are far more modern blocks in the CC, around the UK. But do you honestly think every place can be upgraded at the same time? When we started on our 10 month tour of the UK, just 2 years ago, this type of block was standard in many, many sites. It was clean, adequate and I, with extremely long hair, found the water pressure adequate to wash and condition my hair, at 8am. A popular time. Try a few privately owned sites, you can then see what outdated facilities can be like. The walks along the canal are lovely and the walk up to Chirk Castle, enjoyable but beware, it is uphill, virtually all the way. PS. Yes, I agree, the shower drains do smell a little gassy.

Refurb of shower block required

We love this site and it's location but the shower block and toilets are well overdue a makeover.  Tired, outdated and smell a bit damp.  We would like to see these facilities improved, although we have to say the wardens do keep them clean, it's not their fault.

In need of attention

A beautiful area with stunning views in the Dee Valley and at Powis Castle. The site location is convenient and reasonably peaceful except for the factory noise. The facilities however are in need of refurbishment. The biggest problem was the rabbit population with old and new droppings everywhere, and scrapes providing a further hazard for the unwary or poorly sighted. The rabbits seemed responsible for excessive grass cropping leaving pitches short of grass cover. a little rain rapidly turned the ground muddy on the surface, which I think would not have happened so readily if the grass was a bit longer.

Upgrade badly needed !!!

We have just spent two days on this site with our grandchildren.  They loved the play area, we thought the ground was very uneven around it and the upkeep of the equipment was poor.  The toilet and shower facilities were shabby to say the least and the shower drains smelled of bad eggs.  Generally the site overall looked tired and a bit of sprucing up wouldnt go a miss.  I would have been unhappy if I had paid full price for our stay as I would not have considered it value for money.  Shape up Caravan Club - you are supposed to be the leaders in the field but you are slipping badly behind

Nice Site, Poor Facilities

What a pity that such a nice site, in such a peaceful area, is plagued by worn out facilities, some (very) small pitches, and a serious need of enlargement). The disabled toilet was scrupulously clean, but smelt badly of drains, and has very poor water pressure, also, a simple lack of a shower curtain. For such a popular site, surely some cash can be spent on an upgrade, and a possible development of the bottom field? Also, the kiddies 'play area' was very old, and clapped out with much use.

Primrose Dell

We chose a pitch in Primrose Dell which was level hard standing with trees a round, the well kept site had a good clean toilet block with plenty hot water, Thewardens keep the all areas around the site clean tidy. Lady Margaret's is a quite site with squirrels & rabbits around, there is a foot path outside the site entrance which takes you on to the road to Chrick shops & near the canal footpath. We enjoyed our 3 night stay & hope to return soon.

Great Place for a break

We stopped here for 2 nights on our way home from the welsh coast.  We have stayed here several times and will do so again.  The walking is good, the dog walk is great running right round the site boundary and the site and facilities themselves are really well maintained by the warden team. The warden team were really helpful and answered a number of questions we had. a great break in a trip and well worth another visit.
