Worth a stop

Stayed for a couple of nights. Exceptionally friendly & helpful wardens are looking after the site realty well with lots of useful local info on hand. The slate clippings throughout may not be to everyone’s taste but we thought them fine. Meal at local hotel (within walking distance) was good. Walks into the local nature reserve nice and varied.

Our best stay of our Scottish adventure

I don’t understand the negative review posted. We spent 10 days at the site and found it beautiful. Ian and Michelle greeted us when we arrived and we’re so friendly and welcoming and were always interested in what we’d been doing and and the places we’d visited. There was lots of information available for walks etc and to wake up to Beinn Eighe behind our caravan was simply stunning. We really could have spent another week here. The coffee shop next the garage wasn’t closed, but it didn’t open until April but you could still get a coffee to take away from the garage next door. The post office 2 minutes walk away also had essentials. The hotel/restaurant was very quirky and the food was amazing albeit slightly limited menu. The hosts were really friendly and we enjoyed 2 meals there. We hope to return one day in the future

Stripped bare?

I've been to Kinlochewe many, many times. It's a site I love and an area which really appeals to me for the access to great hillwalking and outstanding scenery. On arrival, i was welcomed by the relief wardens who were fantastic and very nice folk. What did strike me, though, was that the reception/shop was absolutely bare. Apart from some Elsan and Power Cables there was nothing. No books, maps, guides, odds and ends, no supplies, no toiletries (like forgotten stuff), no pictures, absolutely nothing. It was absolutely bare. This theme continued in the communal areas, no nice photos of the hills, no quirky pictures, no nice little signs. Nothing! The site was never like this in the past, and being directly on the NC500 tourist route this must be such a disappointment for people visiting. This should be a premium site due to the sheer volume of passing tourers. To add to that, after I set up in one of the areas of the site, I discovered the bollard was faulty (no power) and the water had been switched off from the service area serving the pitch I was on! No prior notice of either of these defects. The Club really need to get their act together here. Kinlochewe is a depressed and economically challenged location. Local Grocer is on the verge of closing, local cafe has closed, and the local Hotel/Pub has not opened due to faulty plumbing.

What a great site

Loved our 4 night stay here. Friendly but unobtrusive staff, lots of different pitches to choose from. Scenery breathtaking. We had rubbish weather but still got out to enjoy the walks. Shower block is lovely, new showers but why the dreaded curtain…. Some road noise as it is at a junction, but this is generally during the day. Very handy having a small cafe/shop just next door. Love to come back next time we visit the area.

Brilliant Wardens

Whilst we were on site, our African Grey parrot decided to escape from his cage. We managed to get him back from a tree the following morning, thanks to the helpfulness of the wardens who alerted other guests on site and put a message on the local Facebook page. Their welcome was also first class. Thank you Simon and Sharon.

Lovely site but being used by non residents

We visited in April. A beautiful site but non residents using the facilities slightly spoilt it for us as did not feel very secure. A man in a van came in and parked beside us, used facilities and then left. We mentioned it to the wardens and they said it happens and nothing they can do about it.

Kind Friendly Helpful and Caring

Lovely friendly helpful couple who run this very clean site, I had problems concerning a supply parcel I had sent to the local post office which got lost, they saw I was stressed and helped me with the problem and calmed me with empathy n smiles. I ended up staying longer than planned thoroughly enjoying my stay. A well thought out site with perfect facilities in a wonderful location with stunning views, ten stars :D

Good Location.

Great site The warden Simon made us feel at home, and was very helpful as we decided to stay an extra Two Nights so he change our next booking and sorted everything for us. The site is great as a base to see the area and is on the NC500 route which we have now completed. The site also has a great dog walk which our dog really enjoyed sniffing his way around.

Beautiful setting

This site is in a beautiful setting surrounded by rugged hills. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Facilities are more basic than some sites but still clean and functional. There are some great walks directly from the site with plenty of suggestions in the guest information hut.
