We initially loved this beautiful site. It's truly idyllic and we overlooked the fact the people were allowed to arrive at 10.20. Mostly the staff are friendly. The site is very quiet as it's mid autumn which added to the peace and quiet. All was perfect until we came to leave. Granted we were an hour late as I had to feed our 5 month old baby- babies don't understand rules! As we were just about to hook up at 1.15 an older female member of staff appeared to advise that we were late leaving and that if we had a problem we should advise the staff! I apologised and tried to explain that we were late due to our little one but she merely said that the rules apply to everyone regardless! I don't consider my little one needing to be fed a problem and as the site was so quiet we didn't feel the need to rush to tell the staff that we would needed a little longer on site! we consider the attitude to be unaccomodating and unwelcoming - a very upsetting end to an otherwise pleasant stay. We were saddened by the whole experience and left feeling very unwelcome.
Kendal site
After reading some of the reviews we had doubts about booking but we are so glad we did. The site was absolutely perfect, yes some areas don't get much sun as some reviews stated but for goodness sake you are in a WOODLAND,lots of trees, yes?? Facilities are spotless, staff extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic walks with beautiful scenery. We will definitely be returning!
Kendal Site
Just arrived home after a two weeks stay at this site, and can say that it is extremely peaceful, and set in a good location for access to all the Lake District. Facilities were kept spotlessly clean, but could benefit from an additional block, as there is a bit of a walk to them from various pitches on site.
If we were to complain about anything, it would be the fact that the internet access is extremely poor as we found out after making our online payment which turned out to be a total waste of money. However, that said we would gladly return again sometime in the future.
just loved it there!
Great site, nice and secluded with large pitches. Toilets and showers spotless. Finally a big thank you to the team that run the place and made our stay so enjoyable. Great sense of humour (which they needed to deal with us). Would highly recommend it.

Great for doggie people
This was our 4th stay on this lovely site. There are lovely walks from the site and there's lots of history here too.
If you have children with you, it rather depends on your interests whether you'll find anything to do on site with children but if you're into nature, it's ideal. Don't expect to have much of a 'phone or TV signal though. We eventually found a pitch with a signal but it wasn't strong enough to get a TV picture. We didn't have a TV in our old van but it's a case of if you have it you'd like to be able to use it. Maybe a bit of tree topping in certain areas would be a good idea! We'll be back again though I'm sure as there's always a warm welcome here.

kendal is mint
we love this site friendly wardens well spaced out pitches you can feel like your the only one there at times good location for the whole of the lakes we have dogs and the walks are good and close by with various different ones to choose from the chippy thats there on a friday night is brilliant really nice food couldnt really find much to grumble about this site would recommend to most thought it might be a bit quiet for kids
My favourite site of them all.
This is my favourite site of them all so far. I stay here very often at weekends, but do stay down the road during the week at Meathop fell as the pitch fees and half price, shame low park wood ( Kendal site) doesn't do the same, as I would be all the time.
The ONLY down side to this site is the amount of rock pegs I bend putting an awning up... the ground is solid, and boy do I get frustrated. The walks are endless, and a great walk into Kendal and back covers a whole day. Wardens are great, and a brilliant field across the bridge for any dog walkers. Love this place.
very good site,but
excellent site, can be bit noisy if you pick weekends or school holidays, but it is well secluded in bays for groups of vans, bit dark and damp under the trees this time of year and i would think you need to watch the children with the fast flowing river running through the site
beautiful setting
Our third visit to the site. Peaceful and delightful place to stay for a few days or a week.
We only had 2 days this time but managed to do a great walk starting at Sizergh castle and one over the bridge just outside the camp. Weather helped, glorious sunshine.
Loved it.

Lovely Site, Fantastic wardens
We called to say we were stuck in traffic, the warden said they'd stay a bit late for us. True to their word we turned up late, it was very dark, but we were guided to our pitch and helped us setup. Over our stay the staff were fantastic. The site is well set out for privacy and great for peace and quiet.
