Exceptional site

We received a lovely warm welcome when we arrived. When enquiring about the history of the site we were signposted to the information room where there were leaflets about the history of the site. We were also informed of a national trust guided walk that takes place on a Friday afternoon every couple of months for a cost of £3. We met the guide Sue and had a wonderful and very informative walk of the site and were told of its history as a gunpowder mill. Well worth doing and would do it again. The walk up to Sizbugh castle was easy even though we stayed on the road and didnt walk across the fields. The farm shop is within easy access but is ver6 expensive. Will definitely be going back and will stay longer next day.

Second visit

For our first ever touring experience in 2023 we visited Kendal and had a wonderful time so decided to return this year. Site warden was wonderful and helpful, we even managed to secure same plot as last year as it was one of the sole caravan secluded ones ( having dogs makes this easier to keep them quiet) Site kept clean and tidy and no problems with shower access even in July. The riverside walk in the forest and wild garlic path that we enjoyed last year was a disappointment as not accessable due to being overgrown and muddy. Weather didnt help. This site is located for easy access to the surrounding lakes which we found useful. It is definately a site for couples looking for a peaceful break and keen walkers but not much for families to do. Will definately visit again. Thank you for a lovely visit

Beautiful well kept quiet site

Just spent three weeks at Kendal site as always it is very well kept, toilet blocks are spotlessly clean, really love this site as it sits in a large wood, if you keep your eyes open lots to see we saw a buzzard daily and two nights saw a tawny owl. The pitches are well kept and spacious, the wardens very helpful and will try to do the best they can to make your stay pleasant. Will be returning later for another three weeks. There are lots of places to visit within a short drive for a treat visit Arnside chippy.

Nice campsite but be careful where you pitch up

We visited this campsite on our way up to Scotland and liked it.. so we thought we would stop on our way back. The first time we were told we could just pick our pitch, so thought the same would apply. However when they are booked up, you get allocated a pitch. We were put right under a huge tree which dripped constantly all night as it rained ... we moved the motorhome over a bit and was quickly told to move it back. We explained that we had a couple of hours sleep and were very tired and didnt want a repeat the next night. The warden was really unhelpful, he just said "its not up for discussion" "There is no compromise". He said we could ask at reception about moving but there was little point as it was fully booked" .. when we told him how upset and tired we were ... he just shrugged and said "you're camping in a forest" which we accepted but also we were told they were fully booked but looking around the site, there were plenty of other pitches that we could have moved to where there were no overhanging trees. Overall its a lovely site but we didnt feel the wardens were very helpful. I would only go back if we had a choice on where to pitch, certainly not under a huge tree

Beautiful Woodland Site with warm welcome

Visited this site in May. Lovely welcome and instantly smelt garlic as site is surrounded by garlic plants. Very well organised site, large pitches in cul de sacs. Birdsong is pretty special especially late night and early morning. River Kent is a treat, woodland walk along side if river is very special. Our dog loved running in out out of water. Quiet and respectful site. You could walk to farm shop and pub if you wanted and only 10 minute drive to town Kendal, worth a visit. Facilities on site very good, clean and always a member of staff to help if needed. Our favourite site after only this visit and most definitely will be back.

Absolutely Stunning Site

We have just had our very first visit to this site and it certainly won't be the last. The site is well located, just off the M6, and all places in the Lake District are easily accessible. The pitches are nestled amongst trees, are well spaced out and very peaceful. I can't comment much on the facilities as I'm registered disabled and the serviced pitches that we had booked were located a distance from the toilet blocks, so I didn't use them. The staff were very friendly and very apologetic that the serviced pitches were a distance from the toilet block. The site is great for either a few night's stay or just an overnight stay on the way to/from Scotland.

Super site

We stayed at this site in April on the way to and from Wales. We had never been before but fully intend to go for a longer stay. The welcome was very friendly and our service pitch was spacious. This site cannot be faulted. The site has the added bonus of being close to the motorway and easily accessible. All in all, a great site which we will return to.

Busy and popular site

We stayed here for just one night as a stopover on our way to Scotland. On arrival we had been allocated a pitch which for just one night was fine with us (and the pitch was very nice). Wardens were very welcoming and friendly. Pitches are dotted about in groups amongst the trees, our pitch was level but others are not and would need levelling blocks. The footpaths surrounding the site were closed as it was so wet! Facilities were clean and the site was very busy with families as it was bank holiday weekend. Would return here if in the area again.
